I've had (still have) a Wrangler. 31x10.50s and it does just fine in snow:  The XJ is gonna be a TRUE beater. I've halfass farkled the YJ...but now I can get serious  Sorry for the crappy blackberry pic (and yes, those lines across the pic are the beginnings of snow):  | ||

I so want to find an older cherokee 2 door and sawzall the top off of it. strip it naked of doors, reinforce it with roll bar and go muddin ! I really want a scrambler , but I know one of those will not just fall into my lap. The wheel base of the 2dr cherokees is similar. (I have gear I need to carry !) | ||

Rat buell got you beat, I got a 98 Grand Cherokee, for $250 needed an axle shaft, spider gear, and battery, I had $380 in to it. I am driving it to Texas next month so I had to replace the pump seal in the trans, rear main seal, and torque converter, now I have $500 in to it.  | ||

Ratbuell, if you are going to mod an XJ look at www.naxja.org North American XJ Association....sort of an XJ equivalent to Badweb. Lots of good tech if you sort through the chaff. If you have any particular questions, I owned 4 various "J" models. And did a ton of mods...I would be more than happy to help you make good choices. | ||

Some of my past vehicles 2001 Jeep Cherokee, 3.5 inch lift 31x10.5 tires  93 Jeep Wrangler 4 cyl, 35inch tires, I also had another 93 4.0 with 33's can't find a pick, but looks exactly the same  99 Jeep Cherokee, pulling a 92 Cherokee.  84 VW Scirocco, 8 valve, that was a fun little car.  79 International Scout, 345 V8, Dana 44's front and rear, 4.56 gears, with 33 inch tires, max speed 60mph  | ||
