Good grief, I don't know why I'm surprised actually, but come on! Another parts bin bike, and an ugly one at that. I'd sure like to get a job designing bikes for HD : ) I'd be great, 'take the fender from that one, the wheels from that one, the headlight from that one and the forks from the sporty and voila!' the 2011 FLBS (BS standing for, well you know...) then with that fantastic job done I could take my bonus and go home for the rest of the year.

ugh...

Do you think that in the board room they KNOW they're pulling a fast one on their buyers and just don't care about the bike as long as they sell product or do you think that HD actually thinks this was a 'good, innovative idea'?

Did they piss off the company doing the chroming?

Or maybe get behind on their bills and get cut-off until they get caught up?

If the seat went straight back from the tank and wasn't scooped down so low it would look sorta like a '70s UJM type bike to me..... does that mean HDs styling is moving
into the 70's?

FWIW, Buell is not entirely gone from H-D: I just received the H.O.G.® 2011 Touring Handbook which shows where Buell sales/service dealers are located in the various states.

So there, Wandell.

skin - I really think that the VR1000 question will be a dumb one, that'd be like asking the Honda booth for a CB400 etc - its a bike that they've not made in well over a decade, why would they have it in their display?

As for the specs, im sure they'll have brochures and stuff with that.

Now the Made In The USA question, sure there will be parts that havent been made in the good ole U S of A, but what is anymore (in reference to vehicles)?

I think in the end, it'll be YOU that will be on the Tool Scale for just trying to be a jerk to people that had zero to do with shutting buell down.

That new victory sure looks like a street bob, something Harley has been making for years.

>>> sure there will be parts that haven't been made in the good ole U S of A, but what is anymore (in reference to vehicles)?

The brand new top-of-the-line ceramic brake pads I just installed on the wife's Saab were made here.

Without a doubt; I agree.

Skin, you're barking up the wrong tree. Nothing wrong with communicating your disappointment about the HDI board's decision to kill off BMC or all the really poor decisions and constraints they imposed upon BMC, but you may well be surprised to find that the folks at the H-D booth agree with you. I hope you'll rethink your approach. : )

Blake, my comment was more in reference to American transportation and how many parts on them arent made here in America.

Please to see you agree with me on the other parts, figured I'd be the lone one with that view.

I dont like what Wandell did, not one bit. Hell, from the get go I thought it was a bad decision to hand the keys over to a motorcycle company to a guy that doesnt even ride a motorcycle.
But his and the boards actions/decisions are theirs, not the people that run these shows, or the parts guys at your local dealership etc etc
These are people just working, trying to make a living, they dont need some jackass being a dick to them for somethiing they had ZERO ZERO ZERO ZERO ZERO control over.
I'll GUARANTEE that the people at the IMS show had nothing to do with Buell getting shut down - so why put them in that position?

Youre upset - write a letter to Keith, tell him. Write a letter to HQ and tell them you dont like the actions. Take it to the people that actually made the decision, not the people just trying to make a living doing what they love.

Youre the kind of person that makes bikers in general look bad. Thanks

As much as I hate to admit it, zee Saab is GM. There's still a lot made here, that goes into our vehicles, and the same is true for many foreign brands too.

I know we have more being manufactured overseas, or across the border now than in decades past, but it's not as bad as everything is made elsewhere.

That new H-D bike is actually MORE boring than their Sportster spinoffs. If their goal is to become exponentially less creative with each step, they're doing a fantastic job.

EDIT: just saw the new Victory bike. Ewwwww. I'm shocked and disappointed. COmpared to the new Cross bikes, that "High Ball" is just naaaasty. And not the plastic porn star nasty, I mean the cigarette-smokin', corn-chip-munchin', too-much-eye-shadow trailer trash nasty.

Yes Jaime. It's a 2007 model. The chassis and brakes are GM, the rest is Swedish, German, and Japanese.

Amazing cars. REALLY dumb of GM to ditch the brand rather than embrace it.

GM couldn't embrace it. They started to, but didn't have the resources to do it along with all their other brands and projects. Unfortunately they had too many mouths to feed, so they sold it off. GM is much healthier today, perhaps they can pull it off in the future once they fully recover

They didn't have resources to do anything. They were bankrupt.

So I'm a tool. Yeah and... I actually didn't speak to anyone there. They seemed to shy away from me as I was bouncing up and down on the really really shiney ones and making vroom vroom sounds. If you can't act stupid at the IMS where can you ? I will be posting some pics and I will let them speak for themselves.

Hey Hybrid...I disagree with you on the VR question, it would have been fun.

Skin - everyone has their own opinions, and thats fine. But I just think its silly, cause you KNOW they wont have a bike on display that is nearly two decades old and was limited run anyway.

Glad to hear you didnt act like a jackass, well done sir

I'm thinking we spend WAY too much time on these Bastards.
They only have one product to sell, and a bunch of the same old accessories. When they actually start to move into the 20th century then maybe we should pick this up again.
But I don't see the sense in it now, we don't have to have much contact with the retail outlets and the company can just go ahead and Kiss My Ass.
