Hey all- I'd appreciate some "change", in the form of your $.02 each:

We've got the Treasure Hunter's Roadshow in town, my GF and I have a few things just sitting around that might be collectible- she's got a couple of Runci clown paintings, I've got coins and a weird Art Deco wrought iron chair, some old 70's oversized comics- anyone have experience/opinions with this outfit?

I'm familiar with the "Antiques Roadshow" that comes on PBS regularly, but not this one- I guess it comes on cable, which I've not had in years- I'd appreciate youn's input!!

Thanks in advance...

always worth seeing what the items might be worth
maybe easier to find a buyer if youre interested in parting ways with the items

They're coming to our town for the third time in two years. They're really not much more than a traveling pawn store. They evidently do well here because a transient business license is $500 and they set up for a few days at the Fairfield Inn. They don't tape, I believe that's what they want people to think, that they're somewhat affiliated with the Antiques Roadshow. You can look them up online, they have several shows going at once or very close to each other time wise. They always run a full page ad in the local paper telling what great deals locals are getting but it's just a self written advertisement they pay to run.

KY- just read that piece from the Awl...

I just got back from the Hilton, mid-afternoon, they had a 4 hour wait!! I'm planning to head there in the morning about 830ish- I'd already decided to just wait and see what I'd been offered, taking notes, no rush to give up anything I've got.

The pics in the Awl piece showed EXACTLY the same ad as what's in our paper this week- I'm gonna keep fishing around for better info on these folks, plus some personal research on what my junk may be worth...

I appreciate your $.02, KY- remind me to buy you a beer or 2 someday...

One thing I was watching for as I arrived at the Airport Hilton- security!

I realize that there is/should be a fair amount of cameras around the airport proper, plus probably some at the Hilton- I didn't see THE FIRST cop/security guy in the vicinity of the entrance or parking lot!!

There were a couple of older guys standing outside the entrance, looked to be smoking- one was old school nice enough to open the door for me, as I was carrying a couple of boxes of junk- the whole time I was giving the whole area the hairy eyeball...

We've got a Wallyworld just down the road that regularly gets reports of shady dealings in their parking lot...

OK- just went 8 pages deep googling them...

Methinks I'll just keep it local.

Me thinks you made a wise choice. I've got a friend/neighbor who runs a jewelry store and he's the best in town to sell scrap gold to. He's always higher than the local pawns and the chain stores. It's funny this just came up because our city council just approved them for their transient license last night at their monthly meeting. I'm surprised no business people came out in opposition but then again maybe they aren't doing much to local business.
