Dave, >>> I'll be the first person to ask any christian to read their own bible. I agree, many don't actually read the whole thing. Lot's of great information in there not presented during Sunday service scripture readings. I recommend bible study too, since knowing the historical facts and context surrounding the writings is vital to truly understanding the meaning of it all. >>> the majority of the bible isn’t taught... That is false. The Bible in entirety is indeed taught in Sunday schools and during Bible studies all over the place all the time. Most churches offer complete/comprehensive read-the-Bible classes where not only is the complete Bible read, but it is discussed and analyzed. I'm NOT saying that all or even most Christians read and study well their Bible. I'm saying that many do. I know a host of them. You must concede either this point or call me a liar. I am no liar. >>> After all, reading the bible thoroughly is the best way to make a new atheist, it even worked for me... Only if you were lied to about it, which obviously you indeed were. How do you feel about being lied to and misled that way Dave? I'd be angry. You say you've read the bible, but I don't believe you've read the Bible thoroughly, let alone completely or with the intent to comprehend what it is saying. Your provably false assertions and incredibly blatantly false representations of biblical passages and your ignorance of the parables of Jesus are clear indication of that. Tell the truth. Have you really read the bible with the intention of trying to comprehend what is being said? Tell the truth Dave. It's silly and obvious to avoid it. The truth is way too obvious. The good news is that truly, the truth shall indeed set you free. Will you shed your hostility and false pre-conceptions and take another look at what Christianity and the Bible are really about? |
