"A lawyer for a double-amputee war veteran charged with misdemeanors against a controversial Topeka church said Friday he will be seeking a lower bond for his client. Both the lawyer for Army veteran Ryan Newell and a spokeswoman for Westboro Baptist Church say that Newell is the subject of other investigations. 'My goal right now is to get Mr. Newell out of custody', said lawyer Boyd McPherson. Newell, 26, of Marion has remained in jail since Tuesday on $500,000 bond. People nationwide are offering to help pay for Newell's bond, McPherson said. Westboro and it's members have been widely condemned for protesting at soldier's funerals nationwide. The church contends that soldiers are dying because God is punishing the nation for immorality. Newell faces a trial tentatively set for Dec.16 Prosecutors charged him with stalking, three counts of criminal use of weapons, and one count of false impersonation of a law officer. Newell is "Army to the bone", friends and family say. He lost both his legs in an explosion in Afghanistan." End of story in my local paper. There may be more, I dunno. It behooves all who may be inclined to counter protest these turds in any manner to take all actions possible to be unidentifiable, and take no physical actions whatsoever that you could get caught on film doing. I still say an RC blimp 50' over their heads with LEDs printing out Biblical passages would be a great, non-prosecutable way to get'em good. They hit the blimp, they get charged. I found out about it today. It looks like he was parked about 50 Foot outside of a court house. That is what sparked the weapons charge. There will be more news about it coming up. I really don't get the stalking charge. They can stand there and protest and video tape everyone they see, whenever they want but we cannot? If he didn't have guns in his vehicle...would this still have happened? What if someone wanted make a documentary on them and follow then everywhere?? Video taping everyone of their members? Kinda like the paparazzi do??? Would I need to get a permit? Remember the New Black Panther guy with that nightsick? .... that guy wasn't charged with anything. -I'm with you Grumpy- But I would use George W. I personally don't care if they protest, I believe they should have the right to protest anywhere they want...EXCEPT anywhere within 5,000 yards of a cemetery, funeral, funeral procession, or anywhere near any family members of the deceased. We don't want them to get publicity, but it needs to be shown more so EVERY American citizen can get outraged including the congress and they will make a suitable law. It comes to the headlines...then disappears a week later. Keep it there until. | ||

Barker, that is one of the funniest things I've seen. I recognize those buildings in background of Freddy's hometown. But why didn't our local news show that....that's my question! Never heard a thing about it locally. That's the exact tactic that needs to be taken though...in-their-face opposition. We, locally, thought the "ignore it and it'll go away" tactic would work, but alas, the nut jobs are still here. However the Missourians aren't cutting them any slack; a couple more trips for them to MO and the nut jobs may disappear into the Ozark mountains. On a happier note, Fred's looking mighty old these days; not much longer and "Ding-Dong, Fred is Dead; Which Old Fred?; That Wicked Fred!". I too like the Michael Moore approach turn them into a laughing stock and they will go away. if when they show up everybody points an laughs their sick message will be lost. don't counter protest with lesbians, have them dress and arrive with them holding the same signs but making out with each other when the media shows up. take them apart from the inside with "infiltrators" among them making funny youtube videos that makes them look like hypocrites and with SNL/MAD TV type skits on them they wont last long. I like getting a laugh on their behalf rather than getting angry about what they do. | ||

My guess is that the family has copyrighted the phrase GOD HATES FRED and FRED DIES. GOD/SATAN LAUGHS, and they will seek to sue people for copyright infringement.
