I posted this not as a condemnation or affirmation Lewis or Progressive Ins but rather to make my fellow Buelligans aware of what some people with $'s are doing.

Is it his $'s or the companies $'s I don't know or really care (there is no real way to tell the difference anyway) whose $'s, what care about is where they are going and that people are aware. Make your own decision on right/ wrong or what YOU want to do.

Like voting day, you make the choice.

So, just so I'm clear here...It's not ok for Lewis and Soros(both U.S. citizens, I think)to donate to left wing causes, but it's ok for Rupert Murdock (not a U.S. citizen, I think) to donate millions to right wing causes THROUGH, I might add, the FOX NEWS (fair and balanced????)organization. I just want to be sure I have this right. Why is it ok with the right wingers that corporations and very wealthy individuals donate to conservative causes, but get all bent out of shape when unions and and other very wealthy individuals donate to liberal causes?

You read not very good.

Who's saying they shouldn't be allowed to do this. People are just making the choice that they won't do it with "MY" money. I gather you don't watch FOX News... Same thing... Except I don't think that FOX News actually donates money to political causes.

Arb
It is not as much a matter of OK and not OK, (we will always have these people at the extremes) but how the Right and Left effect my freedom and way of living.

Left- the government knows best, more controls on business and individuals. Everyone should share the "Wealth"

Right- the government takes less of a controlling role allowing business and people to operate more freely.

I prefer the risk and freedom the comes with less government control.

Arbalest, Soros is Hungarian-American per Wiki. I don't know if he has become a U.S. citizen, didn't see it in the wiki article, and frankly, don't care.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/George_Soros

Soros is one of those guys that I vehemently disagree with on some subjects, and agree with on others. In that he is much like G. W. Bush ( Soros really does not like Bush ) Ann Coulter, Barack Hussien Obama, and, I'd bet a swiss franc, you.

Since the current regime in the U.S. has a serious hardon for Fox News, and has repeatedly urged people not to listen to any views critical to this regime, and not to treat Fox News ( which, by the way, I don't watch very often ) as a legitimate news company, there is a lot of propaganda knocking Fox. This propaganda is wholeheartedly supported by the other news companies, that are losing business to Fox. ( in part because many of the other companies have been caught lying to us, and in part, because Fox hires good looking women. Murdock is smart )

Your comments indicate you have swallowed the propaganda. Have you?

In fairness, when the current regime tried to shut Fox reporters out of the loop, the other news companies refused to go along with it. ( because when you let a tyrant suppress the news he does not like, you know you will be suppressed if you displease the tyrant..... I may think they are full of it, but they are not necessarily stupid )

If the CEO of Skippy Pnut butter gave money to a cause I did not agree with, and the CEO of Jiff did not, It is well within my rights as a private citizen to buy Jiff. Also to tell the CEO & Board of Skippy why I'm not buying his product, but the competitors. Same with Progressive.

The ACLU used to be a major force for good. Their halo has slipped a lot in the last few decades. They seem to have become very, Progressive.

I'm just playing devil's advocate here,

If one day, a majority of the American people vote for a socialist government, will socialism cease to be un-American?

By the same token, if the aforesaid hypothetical leftist government were to accuse right wingers of being fascists & therefore un-American would that be a breach of the constitution?

Like I say, I'm not pointing any fingers, I'm genuinely interested in the various viewpoints, to enable me to get a clearer picture.

I find the whole thing American/un-American fascinating.
National identity isn't something that get's discussed that much here in Europe, maybe because as much older countries we're more certain of who we are & where we're from.

That happened in reverse with McCarthyism. It started with "un-American" accusations and in some cases led to the accused being thrown in prison. Not our finest hour for civil rights.

Except for the fact that all of McCarthy's targets were indeed proved agents working on behalf of the Soviet regime. To the consternation of most leftists, the previously secret evidence was released in full. Turned out that we had been intercepting and decoding wire messages between Moscow and the Soviet embassy.

Joseph McCarthy was right. The Soviets had infiltrated among the highest levels of our government and had tentacles stretching to academia, our military, and even Hollywood.

Thank you Joe!

"UnAmerican" is that which is anti-freedom, harmful to individual liberty, putting ever more power and control into the hands of the central govt.

Anything opposing "one nation, under God, with liberty and justice for all" is "unAmerican" with "justice" meaning strictly fair treatment under the law as mandated by our constitution as intended by it's framers, NOT the sickeningly evil Progressive notion of "social justice."

B:

Short, sweet and straight as an arrow to the point.

A point that get's clouded by some in order to try and put a bad light on the "Framers" to justify their own cause.

The Constitution and Bill of Rights were penned in simple language with few words that were very carefully chosen so everyone could understand them.
