I've landed my last three jobs by walking into the place I wanted to work and inquiring about the job I wanted. Each one a higher pay grade than the previous. Two of these places were not hiring when I walked in. When you get your resume sorted out, don't just mail it out. Walk into the place with a confident attitude and the motivation to get the job you want. Its all about attitude. I've always figured if you can present yourself to be better than their current employee, you can take that persons job. You need to be a bit bold to stand out. It works. | ||

I'm in the market for a new job myself... i've. Been with the same company for 13 years and my resume isn't all that impressive. It's good to know confidence goes a long ways since I feel I can do pretty much anything given the opportunity. | ||

I've found having a decent head & shoulders photo on it, looking sober but cheerful gets you more attention. Also, as others have said, walking in looking confident & competent goes a very long way. | ||

I wish I could figure out what I want to do when I grow up! Been at the same job for 25+ years. Getting a bit stagnant. Maybe it's just fear of climbing out of the same old everyday rut. | ||

I know its weird for me to not be working, I worked ar a harley dealer for about 8 years, then wham "laid off". Im only 26 and this has been my only "real job" so its not like i know how to do a bunch of diffrent jobs, i just know how to do one job really well. Their arnt any dealers here i really want work at so im thinking something aftermarket, maybe doing bike events (bike week, sturgis, biketoberfest), or pack my shit and move somewhere warmer. | ||

Just some general resume advice..... No one wants to read paragraphs. Employers gonna "scan" through it looking for pertinent info. Bullet points and varying indentations keep structure nice, clean and easy to read. Standardize all headings and such. |
