So that gun cannon thing must have been a beanbag launcher to break the rear window?

I guess they only use this tactic on slow, predictable pickup trucks?
What about a sedan or van?

It's South Africa. It's the 21st Century equivalent of the Wild, Wild West. I daresay they would use beanbags on any vehicle. (Have you ever been hit by one of those things? They are a real demotivator!)

+1 on avoiding the beanbag thing. Personal experience dictates that I will try not to put myself in that situation again. (I was a bystander) It really did sting - luckily it hit me in the back if the thigh.
