Click on the NPR link at the end of the article to see more. What fascinates me is not only the fact that technology has come so far but what many of us take for granted about everyday life. 162 years is a long, long time but in the grand scheme of things it's just a vapor. Imagine if you could talk to the fellas that took this picture and show them what we have available today. I bet almost everyone reading this has a camera in their pocket. Maybe I'm just waxing sentimental, I lost my grandmother nine years ago yesterday and have been re-prioritizing things but that is one damn neat picture. 162 years and most, if any, of those people didn't even know their picture was taken. | ||

What I found interesting as I was reading some of the comments in the NPR section was that; by using a silver plate the pixel size is one atom thereby making the resolution so good that 162 years later we could zoom in on the detail. I also agree with the previous comments. |
