I test rode one when they brought the new model out. It was way too easy to spin the back wheel, I did it a couple times without even trying.. At first I thought it was the transmission slipping b/c the back end stayed straight and true but my brother-in-law behind me told me it was the back wheel breaking loose. Wicked fast in a straight line, I cant remember the exact rpm but it really jumps at 5k or 6k.
Have fun and be safe.

Baddest bike out there, hands down.

You're going to have some big fun on that mean motor scooter.

Hughlysses, it felt like a pig to me. I'm not sure how to describe it but it just wasn't "flickable" at all. It wasn't top heavy or anything, it just didn't seem to want to turn very quickly or easily... almost like a cruiser

My ride was at Thunder Beach in Panama City last year, so it was lead by a dealer rep, he kinda kept a tight reign on what I could do, but I would lay back a ways and then nail it... that thing would jump no doubt about it. My wife said I came back with the goofiest grin she'd seen in a long time. It was a whole lotta fun but I wouldn't want to have one as my only bike.

They look good and run like a scalded dog but I looked at one a couple of weeks ago and at just over $19K that's going to put it out of a lot of buyers price range.

Helped a buddy find an '03, CF bodywork, Hindle pipe, very good former owner...

I much prefer the first gen bikes, especially given the MSRP of the new one...

Anyone have a good idea how to update the front suspension on a 1st gen bike? Stock calls for the "air adjustable" fork, his predictably took a crap on him- I promised I'd try to do some research on a fix...

DD, still I gotta say- you suck. I spent the last 6 months of last year doing a monthly column for a local 'zine- til they shut down...

Had fun writing, more fun with the available tax writeoff... I miss all that.

owned one in 1987.... scared the hell outta me. That shaft drive with all the power through the twisties.... with that seating position... damned dangerous power hop.

@sayit - yeah - 1700mm wheelbase and top speed stability is its forté.

It doesn't handle badly. Particularly with my 270lbs on board. I tent to 'flick it' with the throttle. Use the power to whip it out of corner exits.

But, still, at the end of the day - it's a drag bike with 200 ponies.

Y'all should have seen this guy at MB-II, he was video taping our rides.
He was on a V-Max, and had no problem keeping up, even passing some.
I'm sure he was the exception, but man that guy could ride!
He showed me the meaning of, "It ain't the arrow, it's the Indian"

I owned a 86. I blew it up at the drag strip that following summer in 87. In 88 it got rebuilt. 30 over, cams, flatslides with K&N's,V boost removed,Kerker 4 into 1 pipe,Chain conversion and electric shifter. 9.80's all day long with me. My buddy that owned one as well could get 9.40's out of it with his wheelie bar on it. I miss it. It had alot of character

Long story Glitch. They made them but release date was real late. They were going to stop the bike but Suzuki got the GSXR 1100 out the back door so it didn't get stopped. I deleted the post because frankly didn't want to explain.

As you can see I don't post much anymore. Kinda slowly losing interst in the joint.
