so its that time of year for haunted houses, lets start a thread about your favoright ones, or local ones!

i'll start

theres a small little town about 50 miles from me that has a 100+ year old 3 story school house, and the local boy scout troop turns it into one of the best haunted houses that i've been to! convienently i found out it was ran by boy scouts a few years back, and got in contact with their scoutmaster, and long story short my troop has the oportunity to work at the haunted house every year, and we get free passes!

Hahahah . . . my favorite one is the one I live in. Our house was featured in an hour long CBS show in 1966 and is "alleged" to be one of the haunted houses of NYC.

The local Harley-Davidson dealer, who grew up near here, won't set foot past the edge of the curb. If he's dropping something off, he leaves it on the curb.

Finally, after all this years, my wife has spent the last couple months planning a Halloween party this year and we've got about a pickup and a half worth of crap shipped in lately that includes about 30 lights, strobes, a commercial smoke machine, mist machine, a Mackie 12 channel mixer, 6 powered monitors and CD's of screams.

I suspect we'll soon be looking for a place to move to.

Our ghost is supposedly named "Dorothy" . . but, alas, we've never seen a thing. I suppose I should have shared this info with some of the many Badwebbers who've stayed with us . . earlier.

: )

I went to a really good one in the Dallas area about 6 years ago, and I hear there is a good one in the Waco area which I am honestly scared to go to because I have no desire to be scared in Waco since actual scary stuff happened there when I was a child that I will never forget (David Koresh)

Kewl, Court! Good luck!!

My old boss at Smoky Mountain HD, back in the day, did what sounded to be like some pretty demented haunted houses over in Middle TN...

Truth be told, Halloween is one of my favorite holidays, definitely in the top 3.

There are few greater joys than scaring the bejeezus out of someone...

I just heard an Interview yesterday on a local radion station with the Curator of the Winchester Mystery Mansion! For those who are not familar with it, It was the Home of The Heiress of the Winchester Rifle Fortune. I believe her name was Sarah. Her husband and daughter died and a Medium told her thier deaths were contributed to all the deaths that came from Winchester Rifles! The medium told her the only way to appease the spirits was to live in a house and continue remodeling it and never finishing it. If I had more time I would post a link but it's HUGE! Has stairways going into the ceiling, Doorways that have 10ft Dropoffs into the garden, Windows that look into walls! Weird Stuff!

There was a rural cemetary on the corner from where I grew up. On halloween every year at midnite we would run through it as fast as we could. It was the scariest thing for a preteen to do out in the middle of nowhere on halloween

We have a ton of them in the DC/Baltimore area, one of the top rated ones is right outside my hometown! Sucks is they're all $25 a person each, but I guess it's worth it. There's even one at Fort Howard in Baltimore that looks pretty sweet.

Methinks that Medium had a relative in the remodeling/construction business!

I saw the documentary on the Winchester house... it was really cool looking, that is for sure!}

Back on Long Island, for about 10 yrs I lived in an apartment in a building that was originally built as a hotel in the 1860's. About a year after moving in I'd frequently hear footsteps in the hallway or doors in the apt opening or closing, I'd go look & never saw anything. Sometimes I'd have a feeling someone was in the apt but again, never saw anything. These things didn't happen often, maybe 3-4 weeks apart. It wasn't really creepy or scary, just felt "weird".
Some friends on different occasions have heard & felt the same thing. After years of this I finally asked the building super if any of the previous tenants had mentioned anything. She said some of the former tenants had mentioned the same noises & feelings.
This went on for about 5 years, then one day I took in a stray cat that had been hanging around the building & didn't look like it would survive the winter.
After the cat moved in I never heard another out of place noise & never got that "I'm not alone feeling"...
