I got one of those freebie bags in '07 and it has been handy several times. Can anyone tell me what the oblong compartment on the front is intended for, unless it is just for whatever might be handy to stick in there?

It's where I store my spare Oscillation Overthruster.

BMW guys, they're all the same, bragging about their Oscillation Overthrusters.
Honestly though, oblong messages fit perfectly.

Well, if my BMW's Oscillation Overthruster was the least bit reliable, I wouldn't have to carry a spare, would I?

It's for the bag's instruction manual.

"Failure to carry the bag's instruction manual in the oblong pocket on the front, may lead to severe injury or DEATH"

Point and shoot digital camera usually lives in mine, for easy access (guessing you're talking about the pocket on the front of the shoulder strap).

being the buzz kill.... did some time as a bike messenger in seattle back in college, its where your dispatch walkie talkie goes; before all the new cell phones and push to talk thingies came out.

I dont miss petalling those hills, I do miss the shape I was in.

a SPAM single will fit in there nicely too.

For you Hawaiians, it's probably the perfect place to put your spam musubi, too.

I worked as a skateboard messenger in Century City and Beverly Hills for about 3 months a few years back when our regular bicycle guy went home to Brazil. It was a lot of fun.

No skateboards allowed, anywhere around there. I was the bane of security guards!

I had a similar sling bag, with that pocket up front and my nextel radio went right in there. Just squeeze the pocket to talk.

If you post a picture of said oblong pocket then those of us who are not privilleged enough to have the Buell messenger bag might be able to know what you are talking about, and may even have some new ideas... Not to mention, I am a very visual woman!

Spam musubi, okra, oscillation overthruster... it's a very versatile pocket!

Do you mean the zipper pocket at the base of the shoulder strap?

That's usually a paperwork holder for me, and depending on which riding pants I have on (some don't have back pockets) my wallet goes in there. And it's a good place for any ...uh... "awards" that are received while riding ; ) It also makes a good iPod holder, even though it doesn't have the little rubber headphone cord passthrough.

No, Look at the "front" of the bag. See the flap? Just under that flap is the oblong compartment he's talking about... front bottom of the bag.

As you can see, it's the perfect place to stash a spare Oscillation Overthruster.

Messenger Bag

Of course, if you're talking about a different bag, I apologize for wasting your time.

Very interesting! I have never in all of my 32 years encountered a pocket such as this that is being presented! Why, one can only imagine the extravagancies that could be contained in pockets of such stature as this pocket here! Great find, tis probably the most rarest of all pockets!

It might even fit a Continuum Transfunctioner if you position it correctly.

Obviously it is an OKRA pickers pocket. Stashes enough fresh OKRA for a meal when you get it home.

I can not believe all of this insanity!!! Of course you are all wrong! The closest one is Jaimec but it is not for a Continuum Transfunctioner. It is obviously for a Flux Capacitor. Jeez!
