I Live in a rural area and since My wife and I generally don't watch a lot of TV we decided last year to cancel our subscription to Dish TV. Now it is Football season and I am really missing watching the games! I tried the digital TV Rabbit ears with the luck of ONE local channell! Has anyone purchased TV over the Internet? The Wife and I both have laptops and thought that if I could get Tv over the Internet I could watch the Games where ever I wanted and not just sitting on the couch at home! I have seen alot of adds online but am very leary about safe Software and good product! Anyone out there venture in to I_TV?

There was talk about Google TV coming soon. Have no idea on the details. We'd be fans on ITV as well if/when it hits with a decent price.

I stream football games on ESNP3 as long as they aren't blacked out for your area.

http://espn.go.com/espn3/

We've gone completely to Netflix and what we can stream for free off the internet. Surprisingly, we don't miss regular TV and we save about $1200 a year.

We also don't have a home phone any longer.

Surely... some company will one day create the "All Internet Services" package deal. And we'll all be rip roaring to sign up to save the cash.

Internet Service
Internet Television
VOIP Service
Fax
Email

etc.

All I want out of an ISP is IP connectivity to the Internet. I'll figure the rest out from there. The more you count on them, the harder it is to leave. The threat of leaving for their competitors is the only thing that keeps a lid on prices.

Dunno about Football, MLB tv is pretty good quality. I watch in HD here in France.

Maybe NFL do a similar deal.

True Hootowl... but each year that passes every multimedia device is constantly morphing into a interconnected, networked, internet ready devices.

I really think that in the next few years, your PC will also be your TV for most people.

I have been wanting to build a small PC setup to hide nicely in the living room and just do away with DISH all together. All I need is internet.

Heh, look how interoperable console systems have become in just the last 5-10 years.

It's here, although maybe not quite like you envision and it's called ATT U-Verse. We have it... at the top of our driveway. (Due to distance from source, it's unstable once it makes it down the driveway & around to our service entrance point.) So we're still stuck with Wild Blue satellite internet VS 18+ Mbps U-Verse.

I live in Iowa.. but cheer for Green Bay... can only seem to get Bears and/or Vikings games. So when it gets bad, basically every weekend, I pull up the laptop and tune in on the web. Give this a try sometime.

MR Grumpy: Thanks for the link but unfortunatly We can not get NFL Gamepass in the US. Kind of a rip off if you ask me! I'll have to try the other link when I get on my home pc. I did try one of sites that Firebolt02083 mentioned but they wanted me to do a bunch of surveys and crap just to access it! I did find out that Direct Tv does have a package for all of the Regular Season Games called the NFL Ticket TO GO! Still looking into it. I did find one site that has free tv but it's really a bunch of channels that either don't come in or just not worth watching! But like everything else it can only get better.....I hope!

I went to the tvunetworks.com. At first it looked good, Free Tv, toolbar and such and then I installed Free Software but would not let me access tool bar untill I did all these stupid surveys to win an I-pod and such! I tried to just cancel out all of the nonsense but it would not let me continue so I just gave up!

Mick that's f****d up that you can't get Gamepass.

How do they tell? if it's by your IP you might be able to use something like Hotspotshield to hide it.

Don't know if you can access in the US but try this site http://www.myp2p.eu/

Quality is variable to say the least, but it's free & you don't have to jump through endless hoops. It's all simply explained on the first page.

I was not able to stream movies from my Netflix account because I am currently in Iraq...so I subscribed to a US VPN server (strongVPN.com) and bam...I had access because now I have a US IP address. So maybe you could get a European VPN that will allow you to subscribe to Gamepass.

Thanks for the link Mr Grumpy I'll give it a shot tommorrow for the Colts, jaguars Game! Not really sure how the NFL network knows I'm in the US. But whenever I try to open the lInk a message pops up and informs me that the NFL Gamepass is not available for users in the US and a host of other Countries! I can access the Game Rewind (which lets me listen to game live and then watch it after Live event is over) but I'm interested in watching the Game Live. I'm def going to give the new site you posted a shot but ultimately I may go with the Direct TV "Ticket To Go" or break down and buy a minimum TV package.
