hahahha if it had a turbo there would be no muffler (probably) good thinkin though....all i know is i do NOT like that muffler and thats one of the things i liked bout buell was the underslung...also they were gonna use the stock 1125r exhaust on the B2, and many have tested and claimed that the stock exhaust flows almost as well as a full race system...so why not use it??

If you look at the end of the muffler it kinda looks like a super trap with tune plates. Could still be trying to fine tune the back pressure. Or could just be screwing with us all.

in place of the can hanging off one side there should be duals, keep it symmetrical. Even weight distribution, everything else I like!

Why use two when one will do? Weight matters.

+1 blake...duals are great for cruisers...but i feel when weight is a prime concern, that singles are better and will make just as much power...and if you crash you only got one to replace lol

One on each side disperses weight evenly and weighs less across the bike.
The ZX-14 isn't a cruiser.....

yes, but with the weight of a chain drive on one side, it only makes sense to counter balance the bike with the exhaust on the opposing side, thus balancing the bike properly, instead of having one side heavier than the other...unless the bike is engineered to be balanced with dauls or a single.

Not realated, just throwing it out there.

A glimpse at the new STREET BIKE from Erik Buell Racing- I'm ecstatic!... you won't hear any bitching from me. Ugly muffler?... whatever- it's 100% better than the tumor hanging from the underside of the 1125.

There is going to be a new Buell street bike that's 100% MoFoCo free! Repeat- no more H-D bullsh!t! Let the celebrations begin... leave the bitching to the naysayers.

Just the screen shot makes me proud. I'm STOKED!

Thank you, Erik.

Why all the hate for the 1125R stock muffler? It does its job, it's out of the way and you only really notice it if you look at it.

I don't like ANY of the aftermarket mufflers I've seen because in every single photo I've seen of the 1125R or CR with an aftermarket pipe, it looks like there's something missing.

I just wish it were made of stainless steel... but that's a complaint I have for ALL Buells.

Court... I love ya man, but I don't think HD is "quivering". They just made more money with their Employee consessions in that union vote this morning then Erik will make in the next 20 years.

But back to the bike. All I want to know is where are the testrides going to be available. I think they should offer them to guys who show up on Buells first!

Any Chance Erik would take the 1190 RS out to the Slimey Crud run this Fall???

Of all the mufflers I've seen hanging off the bottom the 1125, the stock can looks least like a malignant carbuncle.

You can say the same thing about my anus, but I have the decency to cover it up.
I'll be getting a 1125CR next month and either an HMF and/or a belly pan will be the first modification.

I'd really love to have a Free Spirits exhaust but it's a little too expensive.

Needs to bring it out to Buelltoberfest IV. It would be hard pressed to find better roads to Demo on.

So where do we take the 1190RS to be repaired/warranty work? (of course after it's produced)

Geez, so soon we forget... the two biggest issues potential buyers had with the 1125 was the pods and the exhaust. Now we know both were engineering solutions to arbitrary rules dictated by the MoFoCo- and those mofo's no longer have a say in the matter. Amen!

It really doesn't matter about the 1125 anymore- it's dead... RIP. The future is Erik Buell Racing, the 1190RS, and everything else Erik has is store for us now that he's H-D free...

And there was much rejoicing...

AWESOME idea. Plus Geoff May's hometown is Gainesville, GA which is only about 20 miles away. Erik is HIGHLY familiar with roads in the area, as those of us who followed him as he did his own test ride on an XB9Scx at March Badness II can attest!

(koz) I doubt they're gonna have to have test rides. they're trying to make financing & homologation for next AMA season. I would think they want to sell all limited prod 1190rs's as new. if there were test rides, the potential purchasing market would have the least chance to test ride.

now if Erik Buell Racing established a non-refundable $500 deposit for a pre-order spot & test-ride before they buy, it would at least fund a few test-ride bikes so people (like koz) would feel better with the idea of getting something this cool. I would be all in on that, but I don't think it's feasible.

Harley-Davidson is not.

Many, dare I say "most", of their executives are. The axe swinging will be starting soon. Some of these folks have been there 15+ years and they know several hundred will be shown the door soon.

Like I say . . . publicly they are all chrome and open pipes . . privately it's a dog eat dog survival game . . no one is concerned with "doing" . . they are paralyzed with not wanting to screw anything up.

Big change from the innovative and ballsy days that earned them their rep . .

I was very confused before the teaser video and after looking over the screen shots, I'm confused even more! If you put the 1190RS screenshots next to photos of the B2... it looks to be the same thing.

I do notice that the B2 and 1125 swingarms look to be of the same castings with different machining done for the axle. The vertical transition in the side of the frame is different but was this going to be a change across the board on every model?

With the similarities between the B2 and 1190RS and the thought that the B2 was just about ready for production in the coming year, whats left to test? The teaser video shows a mule that looks exactly like a bike that was ready for production. With that I have no doubt that the 1190RS is the B2 for the most part. This is where I get totally confused!

The only way Erik is free and clear of HD is if the B2 was developed and funded outside of Buell. Am I right? If anything was designed, patented, produced, or assembled on HD's time it would be property of HD. You can definitly see its a Helicon motor in the mule so the motor and/or stock parts would have to be sourced from HD and HD would have to order them from BRP. It would cost too much money for BRP to build engines one at a time as 1190RS's are built. Is the only choice then to use leftover or rebuilt engines? I am going to assume that patents are being used with HD's permission but with what in return? If something doesnt happen with the purchase of the rights to the Helicon motor, we are still stuck buying Erik Buell Racing parts from HD.

I hope I am not sounding like I am putting down anybody, including Erik Buell Racing. I am just confused about the Erik Buell Racing / HD situation and am thinking that HD may have killed Buell as we have grown to know it but still carry a interest in the success of Erik Buell.

I think you are assuming a LOT... unless someone knows some facts, I wouldn't be worried bout who holds what patent, design this or that.... don't worry... be happy

Huh???

The bodywork is not the same. The muffler is not the same.

Furthermore - why are people surprised that the engine is still based on the 1125 design? Did people people Erik won the lottery and designed, built and tested a whole new engine in 10 months?
