My friend and I spent Labor Day weekend at Deal's Gap. We rode out on Friday from Richmond, VA and back on Monday. Round trip was 1400 miles. What a great weekend. It was one of the best trips that I ever had. Can't wait to go back next year.

Album here: http://s896.photobucket.com/albums/ac166/hillis3/D eals%20Gap%20-%202010/

We survived the weekend but not before I got to place a part of my CR (left mirror) on the Tree of Shame. Need new left mirror, pod, and radiator.
We did 13 runs on the Dragon but on the 12th run I went down. Still not sure what happened but got up with only a minor bruise and scratch. I finished that run and did one more to finish up my Sunday before dark.

Here are a few highlights.

Ready for the Dragon

Rubber in the tires

After going down

Flat spotted the radiator

Holding my mirror

Mirror goes on the tree

Only mark on me (this is why I wear the gear)

What did happen?

The only thing we could figure was I hit something in the road that caused the bike to slide. I was not going at a high rate of speed and the bike went across the road like it was on ice.

Sand maybe?

Glad you're ok.

If it's not leaking, you've probably no need for a radiator, here is what you do.

Drain the cooling system & remove the radiator, get a good quality heavy duty hose clamp to fit the metal end of the pipe & tighten it on to stop the end getting distorted too much. Then with a bar or wooden dowel, with a domed end, of about 2/3 the diameter of the tube. Gently ease the dent out little by little, working your way in, by levering.
Be very careful not to stress where the tube joins the rad.
Looks like it's made of ally so shouldn't be too hard.

I've done this before with excellent results, just take your time & use a bit of common sense & not too much force.

Even if you screw it up it's cost you nothing to try.

I played on the gap Tuesday after the crowds had gone home. I don't go near the place on holiday weekends.
