I've been burning korans for years now. It is nice to get a group together and strike a symbolic blow against repression and hatred. What gets me started is the sight of packs of moslems burning our flag for any damn reason under the sun. I see no difference and it makes me feel a little better. The optional peeing on the ashes is also a stress reliever. Supposedly, under sharia law, the destruction of a koran in this manner weakens the religion and is thus to be punished severely. If they are right we can win after all. The books are cheap at second hand bookstores and make a beutiful fire. Do not cook over them as the pictures may have lead based paints. Burning the Quaran to snub Muslims is as questionable as building the mosque near the WTC. Both are protected by the Constitution but neither passes the "mom" test and are cause for a serious timeout. | ||

Burn a Bible to offset the bad mojo??? That statement alone indicates someone who's emotional maturity is about 7 years old. 2 wrongs don't make a right. 3 do. ( per National Lampoon... a fine archive of parody, but not spiritual advise, IMHO ) The bozo in Fl has as much right to burn a Koran as the Imam has to build a church/trophy/terrorist recruiting center in NYC at the WTC site. Just as much right. Both are remarkably insensitive to the feelings of others, and are, IMO rude. Certainly not polite folk. I always wanted to go to an old fashioned book burning. Preferably with several loads of napalm, or at least enough HE to speed up the satanic ritual for the MTV generation. As to who will defend Christians? I guess it's up to Christians. I expect that many panthers are islamic ( sub sect U.S. Prison ) so they are following their hearts. I'm certainly not going down to watch or get caught in a riot. I'd tell all people to stay away. Let the police reluctantly defend the preacher bozo from hostile a$$holes. Let the hostile a$$holes get arrested, and prosecuted. Madduck, if you find a Burton translation, save it and I'll buy it off you. I gave away my copy, and now can't find that translation. It has very good glossaries. Current translations I've looked at are either PC, deliberate dumb downs, or weirdly biased. I don't want the Koran version of the "good news bible" or one done in L33T SP33k. An old article in World Net Daily, May 18, 2005-- While Muslims have responded with deadly outrage to the now-retracted report by Newsweek of alleged Quran desecration by U.S. interrogators, there was little outcry three years ago when Islamic terrorists holed up in Bethlehem's Church of the Nativity reportedly used the Bible as toilet paper. Catholic priests in the church marking the spot where Jesus was believed to have been born said that during the five-week siege, Palestinians tore up some Bibles for toilet paper and removed many valuable sacramental objects, according to a May 15, 2002, report by the Washington Times. Newsweek is under fire for a report in its May 9 edition that sparked protests and rioting across the Muslim world resulting in 17 dead, scores injured, relief buildings burned down and a setback to years of coalition-building against terrorists. Newsweek's Periscope column written by Michael Isikoff and John Barry included a brief item alleging U.S. military investigators at the Guantanamo Bay prison found evidence that interrogators placed copies of the Quran down the toilet in an effort to get prisoners to talk. Despite Newsweek's retraction, the outrage in the Muslim world continues. In Saudi Arabia yesterday, the country's top religious authority, Grand Mufti Adul-Aziz al-Sheik, condemned the alleged desecration and called for an investigation "to alleviate the sorrow that befell Muslims." "We condemn and denounce this criminal act against Muslims' most sacred item," al-Sheik said. Afghanistan's government said Newsweek should be held responsible for damages caused by the demonstrations, and Pakistan said the magazine's apology and retraction were "not enough." In contrast, during the 2002 church siege, the muted complaints of Christians under the Muslim-dominated Palestinian Authority gained little traction. The Palestinian gunmen, members of Yasser Arafat's Al Aqsa Martyrs Brigade, seized church stockpiles of food and "ate like greedy monsters" until the food ran out, while more than 150 civilians went hungry, the Washington Times report said. The indulgence lasted about two weeks into the 39-day siege, when the food and drink ran out, according to an account by four Greek Orthodox priests trapped inside. A church helper told the Times the quantity of food consumed by the gunmen in the first 15 days should have lasted six months. Angry Orthodox priests showed reporters empty bottles of whiskey, champagne, vodka, cognac and French wine on the floor along with hundreds of cigarette butts. "They should be ashamed of themselves. They acted like animals, like greedy monsters. Come, I will show you more," said one priest, who declined to give his name. Computers were taken apart and a television set dismantled for use as a hiding place for weapons. "You can see what repayment we got for 'hosting' these so-called guests," said Archbishop Ironius, according to the Times report. -------------------- Now, as Muslims have contempt for all other faiths, to answer them, it is not unexpected that some people will actionize their contempt for Islam. Odd to me, is that a tiny church in Florida gets international attention for holding Islam in contempt. On 9-11, as I flipped through channels watching cable news, one channel looped a clip of children on the sidewalk in front of their madras school in Detroit. These children were singing and dancing, celebrating the attack, until an adult told them to cool it. Shortly after, the clip disappeared from the air, never to be seen again.
