The bike started an interesting conversation in front of a restaurant today. We're riding around West Virginia and stop at Schnitzel Haus Tyrol on route 250 in Dailey, south of Elkins. When we pull up in the bikes the owner comes out and starts talking about the BMW then asks about my Ulysses. I tell him it's a Buell. He says he worked with an engineer named Buell who went to work for HD. It turns out he also worked in F1. I rode on US 250 from near Akron to Staunton, VA in the rain. Man, was that a workout on my clutch hand. Mapquest shows it as a 41 mph average trip. Must have been fun in the dry. | ||

Yeah pretty much all the roads around there were a lot of fun. There were a few places with a lot of gravel, but most are in good condition. | ||

Hey Mark, you ought to be getting paid by the WV tourist promotion board. You probably do more to promote vacations in WV than they do!  Not bad for a guy who lives in Ohio. | ||

ride to eat, eat to ride! I ride with several retired guys and that's their motto more or less. They pick a place to eat then take a very scenic route to get there. There's a book called "Eating Your Way Across Ky." It comes in handy on those destination rides. They can ride 100 miles just to get to the next town. | ||

A few years ago I was working for a transport company that covered all of Europe & the drivers figured out how to call the cab-phones truck to truck as internal extensions to the depot phone system. The upshot was a load of us used to navigate by restaurant, calling each other up to meet for dinner on the road somewhere. We were known as "The Restaurant Club". At least one of us would get a call just about every day from some driver or another, "Hey, I'm in ........ where's a good place to stop around here?" You can still get a good 4 course dinner with wine & coffee for 15-20 dollars here. | ||

I'm with you Wolf, being as the wife is German she would love a dinner there. Weiner Schnitzel and pom frits with a good weissenbier. Tasty! |
