I am looking at possibly getting a 1 piece suit, and the Joe Rocket Survivor suit I can get in my size, and the price is right. I own it. Love it. Far and away better than the Olympia suit I had before. It leaked a little water the first time I had it out in the - it was pretty heavy rain and I was on my CR - got a wet spot at the bottom of the zipper and two on the backs of my legs where they touch the edge of the seat. I sprayed with Scotch Guard after it dried - I've been in a couple a lighter rain situations and haven't had any any leaks again so far. Fits great, breathes well in the body but on hot days you get some swamp ass - just no air flow down there. For the price, it can't be beat. New Enough is the cheapest I found, as well. | ||

I'll be picking up the tiez lombard suit this winter. I've read what I could find about most of the cheap ones; tiez lombard, joe rocket survivor, olympia phantom, fieldsheer highland, and tour master centurion, and think the tiez has everything I want and a great price. The new version is coming out this fall though, so I've got to wait. | ||

That Tiez stuff looks pretty good. As much as I like my 1-piece, next time it's time for new gear I think I'm going to go the two-peice route just to try it. I may even try that Tiez gear - I like the styling on some of their stuff. The only thing I'm not crazy about on the Joe Rocket suit is the colors - I wish it was lighter and more noticable. | ||

I ordered mine based on the size chart from Joe Rocket. I wear a size 42 jacket and have a 32-33 waist, so that was a large for me. I was unsure since the Olympia was a Medium and fit like crap - the legs and torso were too short but the rest of the suit was very baggy overall. The Joe Rocket in a Large fits me perfect. There are adjustment straps and buttons all over the thing (going off memory, but I think they're on the chest, waist, thighs and a couple spots on the arms. BTW, I'm 5'10'', 175lbs and in reasonable shape. With the adjustments I can get the suit to fit pretty snug, which I like, and all sizes come with extra long legs (34") so there's good coverage there. | ||

Ok thanks, I think the xl short leg is the way I'll go. I may have to knock off 20 pounds or so, but a suit I can't wear hanging in the closet would be good motivation. | ||

Mike, you're probably too late now but Tiez is/was closing out their current stock of Lombard suits. I ordered a medium just a couple weeks ago and love it so far. Especially for the $165 it cost me! A friend of mine tried ordering a small Lombard just a few days after my medium arrived, and was told they were sold out of all colors. That may have just been the smalls though.. FYI, I'm 5'8" 135 lbs. and the medium fits me just how I like it. A little baggy for summer riding but plenty of space for when I throw in the insulated liner and additional layers under the suit for cold weather riding. | ||

What's your regular pant inseam? The short is only 30.5", so unless your regular pant inseam is 28" or less, I'd stick to the regular length. Mine 32" and with the 34" inseam on the suit I wish it were just an inch longer (no biggie, though)). | ||

32" inseam, some times a 31" depending on what kind of pants. With a 28" waist, it's hard for me to find stuff that fits perfectly both vertically and horizontally  I didn't specify a short/tall length option when I ordered, so assume that my medium suit is just a standard length. | ||

Bikertrash05, thanks for posting this. I am a jeans and leather jacket guy however I wanted something for the cold mornings. Mine came in a couple of days ago. I know many of you have experience with these things but I have none... I finally figured out you have to take your boots off to put the damn thing on...  I got a Large... I am 5'10" and 160 lbs... This thing fits well... I made a video on putting this thing on hoping to help someone that is thinking about getting this suit. If your as clueless as me maybe it will help. Yes, I need a haircut... I will get one before next summer. | ||

F-skinner, your video is private. Interesting comments on inseam size. I picked up a pair of size 34x30 Cortech DSX riding jeans that fit great. Are you suggesting that if and when I get a suit, I should go for a 32" inseam? | ||

Sorry, I made it public. I don't know do not know for sure... My inseam is 33.5 and I have 34 inseam on the suit. | ||

Only choices for inseam are 34" (regular) and 30.5" (short). F_Skinner - I can do mine with boots on if the liner isn't in place. With the liner, you certainly need to take them off. | ||

FYI... The Tiez cost me $50 for absolutely nothing! After many emails and measurements I was told that one of the off the shelf sizes would be fine, it wasn't. The sleeve cuffs had enough material for three sleeves, would never be able to put that inside a glove gauntlet, same with the leg cuffs. Damn heavy compared to the two pieces of my Tourmaster Flex/Flex2. One of my big concerns was the leg and sleeve length, but was assured it would be fine, knee pads would pull up to my mid thigh. Really pissed me off that I was told it would be fine and it ended up costing me $50 in shipping I should have just lit that money on fire. I also had to ask them three times after the delivery confirmation showed it was returned to get my money refunded, took about 3 weeks to get it back. | ||

If the legs are unzippered, you can (should be able to) put it on with riding boots. I have a Fieldsheer cyclone suit and I have to put my boots on first. It is too much of a pita to put on boots after its on. (with all the clothing layers in winter) Looks like a nice suit. | ||

I had the liner in today from Colorado to NM and will take it out tomorrow.. I was comfortable while I was riding but when I stopped for gas it got too hot for me. I went over two mountain passes and really could not tell the difference in temperature. Not so for Lynn wearing a leather jacket and jeans.. | ||

Just a follow up for me, one of the torso adjustment straps pulled out at the stitching. New Enough was kind enough to give me a shipping label on their dime, and they're passing it onto Joe Rocket for the warranty repair. I expect they'll repair it rather than refund me, doesn't seem like a difficult thing to fix. I like mine pretty snug and I didn't loosen it up any when putting the liner in for winter, I think that's what did it. BTW, I ride without the liner down into the low 50's and stay comfortable if I can layer up otherwise with regular clothes (which are much easier to shed as the temp changes). |
