Who the F are you GWB?

Go set up a fake account to insult our veterans somewhere else...

Nice comeback Gregtonn... owned!

I read the book by Krakauer on Tillman and it was heartbreaking even as told by a third person... what his family, including his wife and mother, went through is un-forgive-able...

IF this movie saves at least one other family from that kind of agony... then THAT Fatty is the GOOD THAT IT WOULD DO THE AMERICAN PEOPLE...

Does THAT answer your question?

Everyone else can just piss off!

Somehow, though, I am skeptical the motives of this film are to heal the nation and protect it from poor command decisions.

@Whatever,

I AM a veteran. A real-life Vietnam vet. I was a ground-pounder in 'Nam at the same time George W. Bush was avoiding the draft by using his family's connections to get into the Air National Guard (when the Air Guard was not accepting anyone BECAUSE of Vietnam) and Al Gore got his (cushy and bogus) tour of duty cut short by his wealthy family friends. And on and on and on.

That's why I love John McCain: He actually FOUGHT in Vietnam. He's the exception that proves the rule. But I voted for Obama because I'm African American so a life-long Democrat. Surprise!!! Not all the posters on this board are white. Not all motorcyclists are white.

During the Vietnam 'War' I got drafted because my family could not afford to buy me a deferment(college, etc). I was sent by White people to kill Yellow people in a war that was never declared. My best friend was a door gunner. When he returned home he committed suicide with a handgun to his head. According to the 'Scholastic Encyclopedia of the United States at War', 58,168 U.S. troops died in Vietnam (not counting suicides). Yet we lost anyway. Would things be any different in the world today had we NEVER gone into Vietnam? Well yes: 58,168 men (not counting suicides) would not have died for NOTHING.

I don't use my real name because I value my privacy. Many think, if they think of it at all, that the Internet just naturally provides a certain amount of anonymity. It doesn't. In fact it does just the opposite.

That's true. The original Tillman story was propaganda. Football hero dies courageously on the field of battle. But it's nothing new or specific to Afghanistan or Iraq. Same thing was done in WWII with the Iwo Jima flag raising. In Vietnam it was The Green Berets starring John Wayne. It's all propaganda. It's not the truth. But we the people can't be told the truth or else we would not support war as eagerly as we do. So we are told that war is courageous and honorable and filled with heroes. It isn't. War sucks. That's the truth.

Hi GWB:

Have you read "Dispatches" by Michael Herr? He pounded the ground as a Hunter Thompson type of reporter at the Seige of Khe Sanh with the Marines, when the stuff was really flying. He covered Tet at Hue and some of his stuff formed the basis of "Full Metal Jacket" and "Apocalypse Now". The book flies.

So you liked John McCain, but you voted Dem "of course" because you are African American? Why does an African American have to vote Dem? Have you not seen what the Dem party has done to African Americans? The only positive thing I can remember is that they got MLK released from jail. GWB is your username?
Let's stop the classifications and say you are an American right? So why not vote like an American and vote for the best candidate? I voted for McCain because he was the lesser of 2 evils, if Obama were less radical than McCain I would have voted for Obama. But Obama is off the charts progressive....
are you still happy with your vote?
Please don't think I am ribbing you man, I appreciate you serving in the military but sometimes I just don't understand the logic of sticking with a party if the candidate of that party is inept.

Gregtonn and GWB, THANKS for fighting for the USA in Vietnam! I was just under the draft lottery and didn't have to serve but I would of if drafted. My brother served in Vietnam and I honor all the troops that served our country during that era since the soldiers were all about my age. No spitting from me, only respect and a big "THANK YOU"!

First rule of combat; friendly fire - isn't.

During the first Gulf war they thought by having all the forces communicating on the same frequencies using the same equipment would avoid friendly fire scenarios....

I know two aircrews that wish they could tell you differently. Nothing worse than loosing your own men to your (or your allies) fire.

And if you have ever called for fire and f'd up the order of coordinates... you just signed your death note. Angles Six.

Dosent anyone have a problem with someone making millions of dollars off a tragedy like this? Did any profits from this go to the family of the soldier/football star? Was this movie made to entertain or educate? Is there any information in the film that is NEW and factual?
In my opinion, the producer is a parasite!
More than likely someone that never did anything productive or anything to protect or rights and freedoms. Just like that michael more... look at that guy, he burrows over $25 million to make a movie about the very people and the process that made it so he can make the movie.
Oh and I suppose some people will call it a DOCUMENTARY.
I really wish michael more would have done blackhawk down, and made that a political "documentary", so the country would know how bill clinton waged a war and wouldnt give our soldiers the tools they needed to fight.
Lets just keep attacking all the corporate big wigs making millions employing people, and just forget about all the athletes and hollywood winners making truckloads of money of events like this and 9-11.
Thats productive and the right track for this country.RIGHT?

"Somehow, though, I am skeptical the motives of this film are to heal the nation and protect it from poor command decisions."

As am I.

GWB:

I have nothing but respect for you. And that's why it upset me to read that you view the Vietnam war (or conflict if you prefer) as whites against yellows, and that you voted for Obama because he is black, even though you are a McCain supporter. The racial prism you appear to view the world though isn't helping you. What have the democrats done for you? It was the republicans who freed the slaves, it was the republicans who pushed through the civil rights laws in the 60's. The liberal agenda has not lifted blacks out of poverty, it has cemented them into it.

I am not surprised that you are black. The reason for that complete lack of surprise is that I never made any assumption about your color. I don't care. It doesn't enter the equation.

I know we're not that far removed from segregation and there are people alive today who experienced it first hand. Since you fought in Viet Nam, you are probably old enough to be among them. Just as you resent being treated differently because you're black, I resent it when people assume I'll treat them differently because I'm white. Prejudice works both ways. But I look at my children, and the people they call their friends, and I don't see that old racial bigotry. We're growing out of it.

But I voted for Obama because I'm African American so a life-long Democrat.

Who ever you are it would do you good to rethink how you choose who to vote for. If true, and I don't know why you would lie about that it really displays why the Democrats can and do take the black vote for granted. This is why they don't have to do anything that actually helps the black community. In fact it works best for them if the situation stagnates for blacks as it has for decades.

I don't use my real name because I value my privacy.

Fair enough on the privacy issue. Your persona goes a bit beyond simply hiding your identity however. It's your credibility, use it as you wish.

Yet we lost anyway.
That's the propaganda spread by the communists. We won every major battle, left behind a democratic government, and Congress let them be murdered en mass. We lost in NYC & D.C.

I've made a promise not to visit LBJ's grave, because I don't want to wait in line to urinate.

Thank you for your service, sorry you got caught in the rich Democrat's war, sorry you vote for the slave owners party, hope you learn the truth some day.

I heard yeasterday ( on right winger radio ) that the turning point for negro's ( term used in historical context ) voting came when JFK had MLK released from jail. Prior to that, most blacks voted Republican, since the Democrats were, and are the party of the Klan. I always wondered what made the sea change in african-american votes. Never made sense to me why people give power to those who hate them so much. Still do, judging from the plantation owners attitude of (some) D leaders.

I'll probably pirate the Tillman film. Propaganda often does a disservice to the people.

Aesquire said, "Propaganda often does a disservice to the people."

Patrick I would have to agree with you on that. Propaganda does do disservice to the people. Of course I am referring to the propaganda spin created by Rumsfield and military friends who turned the friendly fire death of Pat Tillman into a national propaganda campaign of deceit. I'm glad that we can agree on that point in this instance.

Thanks.

Governors of 35 states have already filed suit against the Federal Government for imposing unlawful burdens upon them. It only takes 38 (of the 50) States to convene a Constitutional Convention.

This will take less than thirty seconds to read. If you agree, please pass it on.

For too long we have been too complacent about the workings of Congress. Many citizens had no idea that members of Congress could retire with the same pay after only one term, that they specifically exempted themselves from many of the laws they have passed (such as being exempt from any fear of prosecution for sexual harassment) while ordinary citizens must live under those laws. The latest was to exempt themselves from the Healthcare Reform ... In all of its forms. Somehow, that doesn't seem logical. We do not have an elite that is above the law.

I truly don't care if they are Democrat, Republican, Independent or whatever. The self-serving must stop.

A Constitutional Convention - this is a good way to do that. It is an idea whose time has come.

I'm asking each addressee to forward this Email to a minimum of twenty people on their Address list; in turn ask each of those to do likewise.

In three days, most people in The United States of America will have the
Message. This is one proposal that really should be passed around.

Proposed 28th Amendment to the United States Constitution -

"Congress shall make no law that applies to the citizens of the United States that does not apply equally to the Senators and/or Representatives; and, Congress shall make no law that applies to the Senators and/or Representatives that does not apply equally to the citizens of the United States ."

You are one of my 20.

Sorry Gregtonn, I'm not that authoritarian. I just "googled" the first line of the post and got multiple links that say bogus e-mail. I already posted why I believe a convention is a bad idea. You may disagree, and if your argument is good, I'll change my mind. It's not like I have a moral issue with a Constitutional Convention, It's just that I think it would turn out screwing us. I could be wrong.

Oh, and thanks for the service back in the day. Viet Vets got less appreciation than anyone on the planet, even before Congress screwed the Vietnamese people in the mid 70's. If you were there, you know, American troops kicked butt everywhere they were allowed to.

Policies like not allowing SAM sites to be bombed, unless they fired on you were, are, and always will be insane. No one should die "sending a message" to the enemy, except the simple and timeless one of "accept defeat".

To the younglings, LBJ ( president back then ) started & stopped bombing and other actions to "send a message" to the totalitarian aggressive enemy. I guess that we were good guys and they should make peace. As I often say, I won't visit LBJ's grave 'cause I don't want to stand in line to urinate.

If you have read the new 'HealthCare' bill, you would know that there is very little 'Health' in it at all.

And in the vain of the dems bashing the reps... with the 'nothing new to offer'
remember this isnt universal healthcare insurance; it is the expansion of eligibility for MEDICAID (an already defunct and broken entitlement)

I would love to see an amendment to the Constitution that reads

Congress shall not endorse/sign/pass into law any bill that they did not READ.
