This week, we have a new resident in our house. It's not permanent as my daughter bought it but she doesn't have room for it...
It's an old Williams Argosy pinball machine from the about 1977 - 1980. It was the last of the totally Electro-Mechanical (EM)pinball machines before the solid state units took over.
As with all old pinball machines it needs a good going through (a term pin's call being shopped).
This means tracking down the correct wiring diagrams, service manuals, parts, etc.
A quick Google search reveals MANY different businesses out there that claim to be the best and have everything you need.

I need to replace the rubber parts on the top, a schematic and a service manual to start. I came across a place in New York that had what I needed.
I called them to order the parts. They don't do credit cards, web sales, pay pal, nothing.
However, they do give you $50 credit on your first order. My order including shipping was under $50. They are shipping it directly to me.
The expect to be paid by mail within a week.

Once you are an established customer, they bump the credit limit.
They still only accept payment by mail.

I don't have the link here at home but I will get it posted here on Monday or when I track it down again...

So how many other BWBers are into vintage pinball machines?
This is our first, I've wanted one for a VERY long time. I'm looking forward to getting this one working perfectly, then finding another one and doing the same.

Brad

Pic's to come soon of our new toy!

SWEEET!

I've always had a dream of starting a vintage pinball/video game arcade- as a kid, my mom would take me when she went grocery shopping, give me $5, and send me up the sidewalk to the arcade- I've seen and played everything since Pong and Space Invaders!!!

My fave pinball machine- The Black Knight, with "Magna-Save"- remember that one?

As a kid in the early 60's, my mother would hand me a buck and send me to get a haircut, saying "It's 75¢ for the haircut and you give the barber a 25¢ tip."

Yeah, right. There's a bowling alley next door and pinball at that time was 3 plays for a quarter. Sorry, dude. Nowadays I give a generous tip to make up for all that bad Karma.

Love love love the Williams ones, especially the early 80's. I really hope one day a Gorgar or a Firepower ends up under my roof. Then again, I surely wouldn't say no to a Pinbot or a High Speed either. So many good memories . . .

Here's the link for the pinball place in NY.

www.pbresource.com

Also a shot of the new toy!
Like I said earlier, it's my daughters but she and her fiance don't have room for it at their town home.
