William Scott Wilson, Plymouth, Minn., died of his injuries after losing control of his 2002 Buell motorcycle Tuesday and striking the rear of a golf cart inside the Glencoe CampResort. Wilson, 47, was not wearing a helmet and alcohol was believed to have been involved, patrol said.

Always sad to hear about. Where's the crazy white duck that goes around shouting "ATGATT!?"
I can't drink if I'm going to get on the bike. Just can't.

"ATGATT!!!!!!"

I'm diabetic so i have to watch my condition all the time. Many similarities to drunkenness when levels are low. He made a bad decision(s) and it cost him dearly.

Horrible news, for any rider and their family. However I don't have much sympathy when alcohol or no gear is involved. Common sense. I like to drink, I like to ride motorcycles, and I like to shoot guns, but neither of the latter two mix with the first.

RIP Scott...God speed my friend.

He was known by many around here, mostly us Old Schoolers. Brankin will post a proper thread soon.

what was his screen name?

That's the thing. Contrary to what the Rapid City Journal reported, Scott Wilson was actually residing in Frankfurt, Germany. Scott was more active on X-BORG in Germany, although I'm sure he lurked BadWeB upon occasion - particularly when I sent him links. The 2002 M2L that Scott was riding was one of 2 Buell's that he kept in the states at his Mother's place outside of Minneapolis. The other being a Blast! In Germany he also had 2 Buell's; an S1 Lightning and an XB9R that he raced.

I first met Scott at the 2007 MSM in Haltern am See, Germany (trip report here!) by being introduced by my good friend Frank (with that WILD Aluminum X1). Scott, being the only BORG member originally from the US, was the one who I could hold the best conversation with. Here's a pic of Scott and a little of me from the 2007 MSM:

Scott and me MSM 2007

And a shot of the back of his Stammtisch's shirt (COOL artwork!):

Rhein-Main Buell Stammtisch

I found out at the 2007 MSM that Scott was coming over for his annual trip home and would be attending the Buell Homecoming aboard the Blast! that he had at his Mother's place. SUPER - I had someone I could be a tour guide to while I was home!
Here's Scott's Blast! next to my S2 at the 2007 Buell Homecoming:

Blast and S2

And here's Scott trying to get a sneak peek at the 1125R that would be unveiled later that day:

1125R-what?

In 2008 I was fortunate enough to have to go to Berlin again for work right around the time of the MSM and since Scott's Stammtisch was responsible for arranging (and manning) the 2008 MSM, Scott wouldn't have time to ride, and he offered me to ride his S1 Lightning to the MSM. My 2008 MSM trip report here!
Since the 2008 MSM was outside of Frankfurt - where Scott and family lived - I was able to stay at their place the night before the MSM and see some of the local sights - like Buell-Frankfurt. Where I got a picture of Scott by the XB9R that he raced:

The S1 Lightning that Scott so graciously allowed me to use:

And the some of Scott's Stammtisch, the organizers of the 2008 MSM:

Scott's on the far right, while on the far left is Jens (more on him later and NOT the Jens from Pegasusraceteam), while Mr. ECMSpy, Guenter, is the 2nd person to the left of Scott.

At the 2008 MSM I found out that Scott and Jens would be coming over for the 2008 Buell Homecoming, along with some Buell Marketing people from Germany, Arndt and Christian. Excellent, another opportunity to be a tour guide while I was back home! Scott had recently purchased his M2L and, even though he was looking forward to riding it to Homecoming, graciously allowed Jens to ride the M2 while Scott rode his Blast most of the time. Jens on a Blast just wouldn't fit, which you'll be able to see in the next few pics. Here's (L to R), Jeff, me, Scott and Jens at the 25th banquet:

Jeff, me, Scott and Jens

And me, Scott, Jens and Jeff up at the track by our steeds:

Here's Scott talking with Christian - one of the German Buell Marketing guys who attended the 25th:

And a couple of the M2, freshly signed by the man (with my XT-BOLT in the background):

In late January 2009 I was fortunate enough to have to go Berlin for work again and I would have a weekend that I could spend with my friends in Germany. The plan was for Frank to meet Scott and myself in Frankfurt, but unfortunately Frank became ill, so it was just Scott and myself.
Here's Scott in the American bar we went to for lunch, after visiting Buell-Frankfurt:

Scott packerfan

While we were eating lunch, Scott got a phone call from the guys at Buell-Frankfurt, or more accurately H-D Factory Frankfurt. They were having a birthday party for a good customer that night and Scott was told 'You and your American friend can come to the party, as long as you don't drink all the beer!'. Free food, free beer (we did drink a lot, but we didn't drink 'em dry...), and even a Stripperin (female stripper), all inside a Harley-Davidson dealership:

Stripperin

Then came the opening of Buell-Koeln (Cologne for most American's, Koeln since I can't type an o with umlauts). I'm sure you recognize the man in the foreground, while Scott is in the middle and Scott's son, Mark, is on the right:

Erik, Scott and Mark

Group shot with Scott on the left, Erik in the middle (kinda...) and Mark on the right:

Scott, Erik, Mark and Group

Since I was in contact with Scott before he went to the opening of Buell Koeln, Scott said he would get a shirt signed for me by Erik. Erik was kind of taken back a little by Scott's request to sign a shirt in Germany for Brankin...

Scott's shirt

Scott's shirt 2

So, naturally I had to get a retaliation shirt at Homecoming 2009 for Scott:

Retaliation shirt

Scott had recently gotten some paint work done for the M2 (spare tank, don't worry!) that I'm sure he was looking forward to showing off in Sturgis:

M2 paint

Unfortunately I never got to see a picture of the complete bike with all the paintwork.

I last spoke to Scott when he called me from the Chicago Mayhem Festival on July 30th. He called me a little while after and let me listen to Rob Zombie performing 'Living Dead Girl' over his cell phone.

And then at lunch today I saw this post. I was hoping it wasn't the Scott Wilson I knew, whose name would come up as William Scott Wilson on Yahoo Messenger when we chatted Internationally. I was hoping it was all a bunch of coincidences until I was actually able to speak to Scott's wife this evening and she confirmed what I truly didn't want to hear. Scott lost his Dad not too long ago, but his Mother is still in Minnesota, while Scott's wife, daughter and son Mark will be headed back to Germany a week later than originally planned due to the obvious circumstances.

This post may not flow very well, and might be hard to follow, but Scott was truly a good friend, a loving husband and father, and a member of the International Brotherhood of Buell. And he will be deeply missed!

RIP and Godspeed Scott!

Brankin,

That photo of Scott and Christian I took at the bar Erik played at in Elkhart Lake during the 25th, I knew I recognized that photo.

I'll never forget meeting Scott and you sitting outside of The Boiler Room in 07. First Buellers I had met other than the couple of guys back home (one of which was with me, Brett). We must have chatted for a couple of hours until Brett and I went stands up for the rest of the trip to Elkhart Lake that night.

Was a surprise seeing him @ the 25th as well, though I didn't make all of the festivities, we still tipped back a few beers as usual!

RIP Brother, you will be missed.

James,

Thanks for stopping by.

I wish I could make it. If I wasn't leaving for military duty this Saturday and be in Philadelphia, I would take off of work and come out.
I wish I could make it.

Scott, see you in another life my friend.

It is easy condemning the mistake of a man unknown to us. What cost is it to me? But the pain of loss is amplified for those we have shared our sweat and a pint with while ridding down the road.
Thank you for sharing your epic memories of your friend, Scott. It sounds like you had a great ride.
