So I started out the week with 4 motorbikes in the garage and today, Saturday, I am down to one ridable bike... which is actually ok because its my S1-W and I rediscovered exactly how much fun it is to ride!
Allow me to detail how I ended up in this situation.
1, Thursday I took my new XB12XT in for its initial service as my wife and I are about to head down to Arizona to drop it off at our new place. The fun started with the shop backed up because everyone had their bike in for service to get ready for the trip to Sturgis and the first appointment available was for after our departure. The dealership owner was quite accomodating and suggested I drop the bike off and leave it so that they could fit it in when a bench became available. The service writer was not quite as accomodating (read "surley!") and is not a fan of Buells or those who ride them.
I persisted and the bike sits waiting service and I guess we'll see if it's ready in time.
2, This is the best part... my new wife came equipped with 4 kids and 4 grand children, and I got to take 2 of the grand kids on their very first motorcycle ride on the Road King on Friday!!! They are 3 and 6 and they are still smiling. I bought them proper helmets and a harness so the are fastened to me and can't fall off, even if they fall asleep (which they didn't!!!)
What an absolute gas! I can still hear them laughing and yelling "Faster, faster!"
They both got 2 rides each and can't wait for the next time.
After that, Joan and I went for a ride and an ice cream cone. As we pulled away from the curb at the ice cream shop, the clutch cable broke!!
Second bike out of commission.
3, The old Triumph is tired and requires more work than I feel like doing, so it can continue to sit and rest... Lord knows she deserves it.
4, Enter bike #4 the White Lightning... I haven't ridden it much this year for a variety of reasons (including the crappiest summer weather I can remember!) but she started right away... coughed a bit, settled in to her familiar rumble and allowed me to ride her to work.
I had forgotten how great a bike the S1-W is. Super responsive, powerful and still good looking.
We hammered west to Cochrane (where I work) and I'm about to head back home, but I just might take the long way.

Woke up, got out of bed, drug a comb across my head. Went up stairs and had a smoke...

The belt that I use is made here in Calgary and is called the BackRider Belt.
Try www.riderzragz.com
I saw it in use and was really impressed... kids felt really secure as well.
