I had tried a set of Dunlop RoadSmart tires on my Ulysses XT, and liked them; so I ordered a couple of sets to mount on my Guzzi Norge and Terri's Ss just before our trip. After 7500 miles, all four tires have a raised strip that's about 1 1/2 inches wide down the middle of the tread. I'm assuming that that's the harder compound section of tread.There's plenty of tread left, but handling has gotten a bit more, um, interesting. The part that surprises me is that we weren't cornering a whole lot, we did some on the ride west; but the raised area didn't show up until we were almost home and the last 3,000 miles were put on riding the Interstates. The tires were kept at Dunlop's recommended pressures - 36 Front & 38 Rear for the Ss and 36 Front & 41 Rear for the Norge. Since we bought two sets per bike when they were on sale, I'll mount another set; but when they wear out, I'll be looking at something different. Probably Pirelli Angels. Just thought I'd pass on my experience. | ||

I got that same effect with the Stradas on my bike. I'm running a set of Shinko 009 Raven's now and I like them a lot better than the Stradas. Looks like they will last a good bit longer too. |
