Yours truly is now an independent agent for Landstar. I've just finished 5 days of intensive classes in Jacksonville at corporate headquarters where I've been wined, dined, and had information crammed down my neck at mind boggling rates.

Now I'm flying home, packing my car, collecting my final check from my old job and driving to Atlanta. My office will be in Peachtree City Georgia.

Can I get a final round of WOOOOOOT!!!!!

Hey, I salute you. This is what you wanted and I am very happy for you.

I've still got people at Orange Courier. Let me know what you need, and I'll tell you the right person to place your order with.

The only unfortunate part of the move to ATL is that I'm leaving my bike in Long Beach until I find a house... BUT I'll be bringing my gear just in case anybody with a spare bike feels like extending some Southern hospitality my way on any given Sunday!

I'm going to try and time it so when I come back to Cali to pick up my bike, it will be on a SCAB ride weekend, so I can get one last one in before I take the long ride East.

For anybody in Southern California, if you haven't gone on a SCAB ride, you should really give it a try, it's the best group of people I've ever ridden with. I will definitely miss it. Perhaps in the near future if I am well and prosperous, I'll get a spare bike to keep at my Mom's house so I can ride when I visit.

Time will tell, and thanks for the woots!

Good luck finding your way around Atlanta, everything's named Peachtree. Peachtree Ave, Peachtree Circle, Peachtree Blvd,Peachtree St, Peachtree Lane, etc. I was thinking "Alright already, I get it. You guys invented the peach tree. Let's move on".

Congrats on getting out of Calif. This place is sinking fast.

Suwanee would be one hell of a commute.
Congrats on the job!

More specifically, Landstar is a 3PL.

3PL = Third Party Logistics Provider.

100% Non-asset based. We have approximately 8,500 BCO's or Business Capacity Owners (Owner Operators) and a network of over 24,000 approved carriers through which we serve all types of logistics on a global scale.

We do:

Domestic and International Airfreight, intermodal (Ocean and rail), Expedited ground services, Warehousing, Charter services, LTL and FTL (Less-than and Full Truckload) services, and Heavy haul.

My specialty is in the heavy haul arena, but I am partnered with other agents to provide the full spectrum of all Landstar services.

Not only do we provide the service itself, but seamless systems integration allowing customers to track their shipments in real time, accurate and timely invoicing, rapid access to scanned proof of delivery images before the hard copies are returned by the BCO's and the best safety record in the industry by a very wide margin. We are one of a very few companies who are fully CSA2010 compliant across the board.

It was Landstar who actually provided the buses for FEMA during Katrina. It was Landstar who provided the convoy of 27 specialty flatbeds who returned the steel columns from the twin towers to Lukens Steel where they were originally forged. It is Landstar providing the platform capacity to deliver the giant blades and towers for the windmill farms.

Landstar is all about safety, customer service, and just plain doing the job better than anyone else. All Landstar BCO's are 100% Hazmat qualified by their home state DMV as well as in-house at the corporate level. All are 100% TSA certified and undergo thorough Security Threat Assessments.

After being shown the business at every level, from the Vice Presidents on every side of the mothership, I can say that I liked every single thing I saw, and everyone I met sang nothing but praises for the company as a whole. No other 3PL has the bankroll that Landstar does, and as an Independent Agent, I do not wait for invoices to go out before I get paid.

If you need mining equipment moved from Siberia to the Yukon, just let me know. No bullshit. I'm seriously proud to be a part of it all, and I am planning to spend the rest of my career with Landstar.

Glitch, the commute is something I will only have to make on occasion. I am fully mobile, I'm actually working right from my laptop right now. I am completely integrated across all the various software packages which enables me to function as a full service agency from anywhere. I could live anywhere I want, but my girl is in Suwanee, so that's where I'll be.

Besides, you just take Peachtree road down to Peachtree blvd, make a right on Peachtree highway and *bam* there it is.

You know, in the Peachtree district, right off Peachtree Avenue.

Many of my heavy haul customers (at least to start with) will be in California, and I will have an affiliated agent here in Orange County so I don't always have to be here. My old customers like to get the warm fuzzy feeling of having a face-to-face on occasion and my kids are out here, so I can write off my travel expenses when I come visit my mom and my two sons.

Win-win.

WOW interesting!!!

Thanks for the information, I ran a short search on the company and it looked like they were huge and did quite a bit of different things so that's why I asked about the company.

Congrats!

When I worked for Triumph, their offices were on a "Peachtree", as well.
I recall (pun intended) having our S&R admin boxing frame-necks from 1997 Daytonas bound for Peachtree lane or drive or something like that.

Sounds like great work in a tough time.
