i stumbled across this interesting bit of electronic gear this morning, i know its used on a scooter on the site but how cool would something like this be.

it monitors the following
* Battery voltage indicator
* Time and date
* Temperature
* Lean gauge with resettable max L-R indicators
* Current speed
* Resettable max speed indicator
* Odometer
* 2 resettable trip meters
* Latitude and longitude readouts
* Compass heading readout
* GSM/GPRS quad-band cellular module

what really caught my eye was the lean gauge.

info on how it was made and what it can do

Does it store stuff like speed & lean & gps coordinates in an internal memory?

If it does, better wipe it regularly as once the law spot it they'll be scrolling back through to take you to the cleaners.

That is really slick. I want one. My bike will end up looking like something off Star Trek

As fas as stored info, I would not worry about prosecution when GPS's are known to give erroneous information due to satellite signal issues. Also who could say what lean angle would be appropriate for any set of conditions when they were not present. Too many variables that need to be proven and not as reliable as DNA for proving you guilty.

When I was riding near Fontana Village during Buelltoberfast last year my GPS went wacko. I realized there was a problem when it showed me in the middle of the lake. It was a heavy overcast and I was in heavy treecover then.

The funny thing was my speed indication kept creeping up all the way to 215mph. The next day while at a gas station in South Carolina a local cop came up and started asking us about the bikes. He saw my gps and asked some questions. I said "Hey, want to see something cool?", then showed him the maxium speed display. He looked at me kind of funny and said "That bike can't do 215 can it?". I told him no, the gps just went wacko the day before and I was really only doing about 45 at the time. He chuckled and told us to be careful.

another thing i just thought of today while i was driving home from Walmart, how cool would it be to have a program written onto the arduino that would also plug into the diagnostic port and along with the touch screen be able to read codes and real time data to help diagnose problems as well, something like that, i would think would make it easier to tune instead of trying to find someplace to make a few dyno runs,
