Two southern/midwest clubs (& their associated clubs) being cracked down on by feds right now, so they're all having bigger money problems than ever before.

Here are he 3 things I did wrong.

1) I did not lock my garage.
2) I left the keys on the bike.
3) I did not set the code.

My house has a detached garage. It is directly behind the house. The house and garage are probably 10 yards apart. On the far or open side of the garage is an alley. On the other side of the alley is another house. Sunday morning I go outside and my garage door is open. I can see it throught the "small" garage door facing the outside. I know I shut it the night before when we came back from wheelin in the Jeep. I enter the garage and immediately notice my bike is gone. Nothing else appears to be missing.

I had changed the oil in the bike the weekend before and I think I left the keys laying either on the instruments or on the seat. I felt secure in my neighborhood, so this was not unusual for me.

Cops came, took a report and tried to get prints of the garage door opener switch inside the door. No joy. The cop who came was a Corporal. He said the bike was either in a ditch or in a trrailer headed somewhere far away.

I put a description of the bike and the VIN on here and on Buelletinboards. If you know of anywhere else I should post the description, let me know or feel free to spread the word yourselves. I'd greatly appreciate it.

The bike was fully insured, but it's going to be difficult to replace. I guess I'll cross that bridge when I come to it.

It was black, aftermarket mirrors (with blinkers) and a tidy tail type of set-up.

My email is chrisahughesatgmaildotcom.

I hope the unlocked garage and key-in-ignition weren't mentioned in the PR.
Underwriters sometimes frown on these factors when considering loss reimbursements.

If it is not recovered there are dealers with CR's for sale still. One in IL has them for $5600 if I am not mistaken. Good luck I hope the catch them before it is too late.

A good place to point the squinted eye is your neighbors, friends, anyone that has come around lately that is new. Anyone walking through neighborhood that is unfamiliar that you can remember?

I know around here (birmingham) people walk the streets checking for unlocked doors.

I'll keep an eye out for parts.

searchtempest. Set radius to any. keywords buell parts....

ya never know.

What I'm hearing is 16 cars got hit Sunday am. All outside. All unlocked. Not sure about other folks garages.

This is just the neighborhood rumor mill. Next time I talk to the Police Officer I'll try to get some facts.

Hey Tramp...

You suppose a support sticker would make someone think twice at either the thief or chop shop level?

M1- Absolutely.
When folks used to come to the booth to buy them, they often cited anti-theft as the reason.
Only problem is (for me) I actually have to be careful where I park or even fuel up sometimes....
Support stickers can have the opposite effect in the wrong region.

Yeah i am a little weary of putting a support sticker on my Buell. #1 this is an (*) state but the (*) still ride here as well. # 2 cops seem to react poorly to it as well or so I'm told. Also is there a reason Tramp isn't naming them? Or did i wast my time with the asterisks

I think he is probably not naming them as to keep Badweb out of any kind of possible hot water from support or non support to one club or another since this site caters to people all over the world as apposed to one clubs territory. Or at least that would be my guess any way.

Back in 1970 I had my Hodaka 125 stolen from the school parking lot. The cops couldn't find it so a buddy of mine and I started trolling the neighborhoods two up on his bike. We started in our neighborhood and wound our way out looking in garages as we drove by. We had a hunch to check out other riders in the area and bingo, we saw a glimpse the rear fender in the garage at another students house. We called the cops and they picked up the bike and the kid. He had enough time to strip it of all lights and unnecessary wiring. But I got my bike back and his dad paid to put it back together in exchange for me dropping the charges.

Sorry your 1125 got snagged. If you want to kill some time, check out what could be considered any "usual suspects" in the area. Talk to other riders and neighbors. Also any area cycle dealers. Good luck!

"Support stickers can have the opposite effect in the wrong region."

Duly noted... I'm pretty well smack dab in the middle of the right region for the sticker I have though (even though the sticker it self came from Alaska).

Good guess.

Clubs are a different frequency/wavelength of the motorcycle culture.

While they are all different from one another, and individual charters within clubs can vary greatly from one another,
membership is often a matter of geography.

Collective culture often forgets to allow for evolution and growth within MCs, much as these dynamics mold other organizations.

Few clubs, today, have much in common with the largely media-created mayhem-dealers of Corman B-movies of the '60s and '70s.

.... maybe American culture, much like most world culture, has feminized greatly, due to a multitude of technical, chemical and cultural effects.

Boys in elementary school who fidget during Math class and look out windows are medicated due to "ADD" or ADHD" and other pharma-created acronyms.

Legally drugged-up kids are steered toward keyboards and away from fishing poles and box-end wrenches....and common-to-the-point-of-ubiquitous herbicides found in Corn products, etc., chemically castrate American males at an alarmingly steady rate.

The larger, more notorious MCs formed as Vets' org.s for broke WWII GIs who came home to find that Suzy was shacked up with a flat-footer, the gas station had already hired a 16-year old in their old job, and money was tighter than it had been in a decade...cars were an impalpable luxury, while flattie Harlies, produced for the war effort in great surplus, were affordable.
Unemployed young vets rode around looking for jobs, and landing in roadhouses each night, meeting more ex-GIs.
They wore bootied nazi regalia like Siouxs might wear captured scalps, and they tended to drift, drink, and look for a thrill that was difficult to find after close combat.

These MCs were founded in anxious boredom as opposed to crime.

I think it's important to remember the origins of this essentially American phenomenon when considering MCs....whether or not you approve of, or support any. They're still an essential component of American (and now world) motorcycle culture.

Friends and neighbors, and a perfect example of Tramp's description. I've never heard it laid out quite like that, but a spot-on description nonetheless. Activities range from toy runs for charity to making fresh holes in the desert during a new moon. Not to be taken lightly.

Son's of Anarchy must be on one of those cable channels. I'm still with broadcast TV, and I have bikes with carbs, I have no idea how I ended up with this "smartphone" in my hands.

Anyway, any updates on the Buell theft detective work?
