That is Bonfire - Burgers - Beer. But don't tell NittanyX or his son Derrik. It is a surprise for them. I am in East Tennessee about 15 miles East of Knoxville. On this Saturday they are arriving here to spend a couple of nights on their long 'Dad and Son on the Uly XT' vacation. They were hosts to me on the Res Ride last month, and we all had a great time. So to thank them for the hospitality and BBQ party at their house, I thought a little surprise Buell rider camp out party might be fun. I have room for hundreds of tenters, the pool is up and running, the camper is already spoken for, but I have a couple of tents I would be happy to set up for anyone without. No band will play, but standing/sitting around the fire or floating in the pool sipping on ice cold beer will surely get the stories flowing. Food and drink will be supplied. The party will start about 7:00 or so in the evening. I want to make sure anyone riding in to consume mass quantities will be staying in a tent or something, heck I have hook ups for campers too! We will then be doing about a 300+ mile twisted twisty loop on Sunday leaving here at about 8:00 am. So if any of you BadWeBers are passing near Knoxville Tn this weekend.....well bring your swim suits and a towel, your tent or camper.....oh and don't forget the bike! Post back here or shoot me a PM if your interested. |

this is pretty much amazing sounding. You are opening up all of this to someone simply because we ride the same brand of motorcycle. Exactly the kind of group I want to be part of!!!! |

Sure it is short notice, but Knoxville area riders won't even have to save up money to be here! |

Sorry to miss it. Thanks for the call Vern. Glad I didn't attempt the run on my tire. It was down to the gray rubber just before you get to the cords. I'd be pushing by Cookeville. I need to come your direction soon, though. Now that I got wheels, I can make it happen. |

Well it was a bit warm in the afternoon Sunday, but we had an awesome ride. We left my place with eight bikes and ten people. After a quick breakfast and shot of gas we went along the Northern side of Lake Cherokee on 375, one of my local favorites. Then we did semi-slabbing to Kingsport to cut a couple of hours out of what is some otherwise real back roads to there, but that is for another day. The object routes were 58 from Kingsport to Bristol, just awesome twisting, to 421. The Snake. Even riding through Bristol on 421 was twisty! The Snake was just great, clean, clear, no debris, and little traffic. The traffic we did encounter pulled over and let us by in short order, kudos to the good people of the area. The permagrin factor was quite high as I dragged a peg on my Uly on both sides for the first time. My new riding boots are not as cumbersome as my HD boots which have dragged several times. I also flattened out my home made accessory rt side exhaust pipe tip. We had lunch at the Shady Valley Store, someone finally got their sticker! Part of the group had time limits for the day so they left on rt 90 as the rest of us did part two of the Snake. This side had a little debris in the road from some road work that was widening the inside berms. It was still fast and fun though. In Mountain City we turned on 67 to Elizabethton on 321, when it was getting really hot. At that point it was a matter of keeping above 65 mph to survive the heat. Temperature was in the mid 90's by then. After several stops for drinks and shade we decided not to continue on to the rt 32 twistys. Storm clouds were popping up. The final four of us heading back to my place hit some wet back roads but never got rained on. We were pretty well exhausted from the heat after about 285 miles. Another great day on the Buells.....oh, and one Can-am Spyder, and one Beemer. John and Derrik are off today with Gotj to do the Cherohala, Robbinsville, the Dragon, rt 28, Cherokee, and back via New Found Gap 411 into Gatlinburg. They have never been, so I'm sure a lot of permagrin points will be gained today. I could not go today, I have to work, too much Buellin' time lately. |

Yep. They did the big loop. 'Cept for a little disgust with the slow traffic on New Found Gap(which is normal), they had a great time. I escorted Jon and Derrik to Cherokee this morning for their trip out to places North. Somehow I ended up doing the first twenty five miles or so of the BRP. It was fantastic. Little into the clouds but not bad. They are going to have a great time today! Back to work for me! |
