So we just bought a sweet Condo in Scottsdale to use as a respite from our cold Northern winters (we take possession at the end of August.)
My incredibly beautiful and thoughtful wife suggested we buy a bike for our transportation when we are there... this has resulted in the purchase of an brand new 2009 Thrust Blue XB12XT!!!
We'll be riding it down in late August and storing it with friends until our place is available.
Two questions become evident to me...
1... Anyone interested in showing us around once we get there? I'm looking forward to meeting fellow BadWebbers.
2... Any recommendations on what shop would be a good choice to bring the bike to for servicing? I'm fortunate to have both a good dealership in Calgary as well as an incredibly fine independent shop to deal with.
I appreciate any input.

Welcome to Arizona, You will enjoy the winters here.
Late August is still very warm here, so be prepared.
You can see what's happening here in Arizona by checking out the Arizona thread in the "storm Fronts" section.
I go out riding pretty much every other weekend, and would love to show you some of this state.

As for dealerships, good luck!
There are three dealerships in the area, all three suck.
Since you will be in Snotsdale, you may want to try Hacienda HD, even if they are all about the chrome, they do still have a few Buells on the floor...

Thanks for the advance welcome. We are really looking forward to spending time there.
Thanks also for the critique of local dealerships... that was pretty much my reading of the situation. I originally tried to buy the Uly locally but the complete lack of interest coupled with their desire to sell it at full pop had me successfully shop at my local dealer (so far I've bought 3 bikes from them, both my Buells as well as the Road King.) I pick the bike up on Monday and can't wait! Plus it looks like we may have sun that day after an incredibly wet June.
Bartimus, thanks for directing me to the Storm Fronts section. Looks like a good group that posts on there.

"Snotsdale" you say... too funny!

There are only a couple of us that actually ride.
Many others just get talk about riding.
shoot me a PM when you get in town, and I'll point you towards some nice roads to ride on.

Up to Prescott and around is a good ride. Up to Payson and around is good. It is just a short ride up to Laughlin. There are some neat places around Tombstone and Bisbee.

We have done a couple of rides to Death Valley. Northern Cal guys ride down, and I have ridden up to meet them. Death Valley is cool to see in Jan. or Feb.

Buellton on the Northern Cal coast is some great riding, and Highway 1.

Arizona is a neat place. Not too far to any other state and its areas. Plus you can ride all year here, which is good.

I suggest arrowhead hd, they are spot on with everything they do ; )

I just took a ride to strawberry today with my dad for fathers day, it was AMAZING!! I LOVE arizona and there is every type of environment and climate to ride in, and like it was said before YEAR ROUND RIDING : )

Theres only a couple things...its HOT and the you HAVE to look out for the STUPID drivers in AZ.

Other than that have a great time!

Must have missed you in Strawberry today.
The only Buell we saw was a red 1125R chasing a Harley, (spit).
Debbie and I road up to Springerville/Eager yesterday, for a beer.
Spent the night in Lakeside/Pinetop, and headed down the mountain this morning.
We went north from Payson, and through Strawberry, and out HWY260 to Camp Verde, and then down the big 17 to home.
All total, we did 524 miles in two days. Debbie's longest ride so far, and she did pretty good.
Temps in Lakeside was 78 late afternoon, and 58 this morning when we woke up. real nice for a couple of desert dogs looking to beat the heat for a day or two...
; )

Thanks for all the responses so far!
Picked up the new bike yesterday and it is great... I think it will be the perfect Arizona motorcycle.. fast, fun, practical... it's even got a comfie seat!!!
The only problem is the speedo reads in km/hr not mph.
When we get closer to possession date I'll be hitting everyone up for suggestions of good bars and restaurants.
In the mean time, gotta go for a ride!

Did the "red" Buell look like this?

if so that was us, I was on my Honda ST1300, and Debbie was following on her sunset orange XB9SL.
That sounds like the right timeframe, i think it was noonish when we got to Camp Verde.
It was about 1 or so when we got home. (Glendale)
