Rider error...........yours.

Collecting insurance for your mishap .....does the adjuster know you were at a racetrack when it happened?..............

Eat the loss and chalk it up to experience.

Probably not. But if you get caught defending an insurance fraud case could be costly.

Unless you were at the track engaged in competition, I don't see why it would matter.

The insurance company has already built into your rates the activities you engaged in on the track.

Fatty is right about the competition thing. Progressive covered mine when I dumped it at the track. I was honest with them and they covered everything. However, my rate went up 50% this year. If I had to do it again I would have just repaired the bike myself.

http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/message/4062 /569927.html?1275663260

The thread starter deleted his first post as soon as he read my first reply.

He stated he was overtaking a slower rider going INTO a corner and his line was blocked by said slower and instead of running off in the grass and regaining his composure he hit the edge and low sided.

To me that was rider error as it is a track day with no points, prizes, money at stake....besides I never heard of anybody winning practice .

Then he went into a rant that the frame pucks didn't didn't do their job as the frame was dented and he's so anal that he couldn't be seen riding it on the street again with it skinned up.

Also he stated book value was $4,900 and he owes $5,000 .

Don't go racing or play racing if you can't afford to play the game.

I have never been on a race track, but I do have some road rash on the bike. I wear it with pride!
If it was from being on a track, I would be even more proud.

I thought this through before I decided to take my 9sx on each of two track days... I decided ahead of time that if something happened, I would just fix it if I can, if not I would be straight up with the insurance company (professionally run closed course setting, novice class with strictly enforced passing rules, no timing or competition of any kind) and let the chips fall where they may.

Knowing I was on the hook for damages influenced how I rode the bike while on the track. A good thing, so it's important to think through and accept before you start the first lap.

I'm surprised he was allowed to pass in a corner... must have been intermediate or advanced class.
