I don't feel comfortable posting my story or identity.
While I understand your reasoning, you must understand mine.
If you won't come clean about who you are (I know, by the way) then simply do not post.
BadWeB is a family, if you can't be honest here, well then, you ought not post something you're not comfortable with.
I'll not out you, I do however think you should out yourself, you get more support from family when your family knows who you are.
How is anyone supposed to help, if you won't tell your story either?
This thread will die a quick death without your coming forward.

You do not have permission to post as Anonymous.
Period.
I thought I made myself clear.

Glitch,
I'm not sure who made you GOD here, but you've got got both feet in shit up to your knees. Some one simply asked for help. And you chased them off with a bullshit answer.
Grow up, some times it helps to ask anonymously. In fact somebody thought it might be a good way to help those struggling. Twelve steps my friend. I've had friends and family fight this battle and get involved with others after they started going the right direction. Ever wonder where "Hi my name is" came from?
Please rethink your answer and attitude.
Kevin

As a person with multiple addictions several of which are statistically fatal, it's not an easy thing to admit or deal with. Help is very good, once you can admit you have an issue.

So, with no sarcasm, at all, I'm going down to the smoking lounge, have a butt and a coke, think about cutting back on the latter & quiting the former. That covers 3 I admit to.

The ones I don't admit even to myself, are sometimes obvious to others, though I don't agree that falling in love with crazy women is an addiction, just self destructive.

Good luck with your ( edited away ) problems. Prayer and/or meditation may help in keeping the emotions on a positive swing, But Don't think that a navel gaze is the answer. The real world is out there. Sometimes it's a bit to sharp edged, but that works for joy and pain.

Thanks Ulywife, for hiding that.

M., I understand this to be a highly emotional subject. I'm not trying to stir the pot. I think the anony option should not be used when you are trying for help to overcome. There is a degree of open honesty that must be obtained when dealing with addiction or else the lie continues.

Aesquire, Falling in love with crazy women is a sexual addiction. You deceive only yourself by denying it. I gave up on being politically correct too.

No offense taken, I'm not PC either.
Denial isn't just a river in Egypt.

I think ( no proof ) that addiction is akin to depression, in some ways. Despite any helper drugs, ( for nicotine or heroin / antidepressants ) it eventually works out to the use of will. If you are not willing to "just say no" or "get moving" no amount of intervention, therapy, or drugs can help. Now... the drugs and therapy can help you make the effort that seems that you can't fraking do. In the end it's your head, and being willing to ask for help. So get all the help you can. Making that leap makes the next step a little easier. I hope.

Just my 2 cents.

Medically, both states of unnatural behavior show up as chemical imbalances. Your brain is stewing in a chemical bath, and your mix is off. Sometimes drugs can help you balance out. Everyone's DNA is different so the drugs work different in everyone. It can be a crapshoot to get the mix right, but IMHO if you can get the behavior under control, the chemicals follow, if you see what I mean. It's not just chemicals, or your persona. It's a combo. With screwy feedback loops.

ok...4.

It is ALWAYS about someone or something else if you are an addict... ALWAYS... that is how I got into recovery... I don't have a _____ problem, I have a living clean and sober problem...

Thread? Pretty much the whole site is about addiction. I'm addicted to chew myself. I have the same amount of holes in my face that I was born with. So I feel luckyish.

My doc says think about quitting...And then the Buell thing, oh Jesus don't even get me started on that addiction.

At least chew never got me into situations where cars run into me.

Perfectly solvable . . . . ODAAT.

Make yourself a statistical anomaly.

Sticks, Spit on enough cars and one of them will run into you.

Char, Hardest thing is admitting you can't do it on your own. Really messes with your ego.

Aesquire, Chem. imbalance can throw a monkey wrench in the works. It can leave you scratching your head wondering what was that.

The most important thing is to not think of or ponder any of the addictions positive traits. I always remember the next day and those I let down. And most important,"Anyone that had mercy on me".
