Hi I have an announcement to make. My wife is well on her way to do a lap of America on her 09 Triumph Bonnie. She started off Wednesday this week and she is heading in to Roswell, NM today. She said she wanted to check out the aliens. This is her current trek (in blue) and anticipated route is in green. She's doing a daily diary on her Blog: http://www.talesofamagpie.typepad.com/ She brought along a netbook, camera and a broadband card, so pictures and descriptions will be on her blog. She had a really weak signal in Show Low, AZ last nite, but did manage to get the blog updated. And the route is definitely subject to change! Chicago is not out of the realm of possibility. I'll keep things up to date here as well. So far (about 1,000 miles) she's having a great ride!! Nothing but sunshine and beautiful scenery. She is figuring on about 45 days for this ride. | ||

Thanks for the offers of support and such!! We'll keep that in mind. There's this thing about chain maintenance on a Triumph that she gave me a funny look when I showed her how to do it.  | ||

Looks like lots of opportunities for oil changes along the gulf coast (har-har... not). I'd bet many here on badweb, myself included, would be willing and able to help give micro-map advice as to routes. For example, she appears to be missing the entire Eastern Shore, and instead, heading up mainland VA up to DC. She could cross the Chesapeake Bay Bridge/Tunnel from Norfolk/VA Beach, and head up the DelMarVa peninsula to stay closer to the coast. On the other hand, heading more inland and going up the Blue Ridge (Parkway) then over to DC would be great, too. Gonna go check the blog. Great trip!!! | ||

The outline for the trip is just that.. A general direction sort of thing. She detail plans the next day in the motel room on Google map the night before. I really appreciate all the good advice, "cools" and well wishes for her trip! She's not on BadWeb, but she'll be monitoring QuickBoard and this thread.. So keep 'em coming! | ||

and since you guys aren't coming down this way vamp, i'll be seeing ya'll next weekend in cbus but since it looks like we'll have doermans wife travelling this way maybe we can help her out along her journeys. any idea when she expects to get into the tampa area. we can find some garage space a sofa bed and some food if need be. maybe she can inspire my wife to ride a little more. | ||

She'll be in Sarasota. Probably next week sometime. Her next destinations are: Fredriksburg, TX - because it is the bat capital of the US New Orleans - because it is New Orleans Sarasota - because friends of ours live there and Hap's Triumph store is there (oldest Triumph dealer in the US) Since "agenda and schedule" is not a part of her vocabulary for this trip, it is going to be hard to tell when she arrives in on the West Cost of FL Check her blog to keep up on the developments. | ||
