I saw a post on a V-Rod forum that claims it's a new V-Rod powered bagger; the guy claimed to have seen such a bike in traffic with manufacturer's tags.

I saw a V-Rod bagger just last Sunday in Oconomowoc (just west of Milwaukee). I just figured I didn't know what options were available from the chrome specialist. I didn't notice the plates on the bike. I wonder if I got a sneak peak!?

People have been making VROD baggers (especially with road glide fairings) since shortly after the VROD came out. There are multiple companies that make kits for mounting the fairing to the VROD frame/headstock.

I don't think it will be the XR1200X... that's not enough of a new model to make any kind of stink, but that's just my opinion.

Now, a VRSC bagger could be it, but keep in mind that slapping saddlebags (from the HD accessories catalogue) and a Road Glide front fairing is something that LOTS of guys have done, so the "sneak peaks" you may have gotten may have just been a home brewed concoction. There's one parked at my local dealer almost everytime I stop in.

EDIT: Jasnok beat me to it by seconds, lol

Change just a couple of words in that paragraph and you describe the "new" Nightster.

Well, whatever we think of it, I think it's safe to say that's the coolest bike Harley's come out with since the XLCR.

Just got back from my local HD dealer.
It's the XR1200X.
For sure it's the coolest bike they've ever made.
They don't have one but they have a used XR1200 with the HD w/s,tankbag and saddle bags for $9500.
I'm going to try to ride it this weekend, not in the market for a new bike but I want to test ride it.

I still think the "coolest bike they ever made" was the XLCR.

So it's what we expected: Same old ****.

isn't amazing that a 1996 Buell is 100 times better then that 2011 junk Harley Davidson has come out with.
what a joke

I just might buy an XR1200X when Harley closes down and starts selling them for half price like they did with the Buells. I think it would be a decent motorcycle for about $6000.00

Why would a HD rider care about adjustable suspension?

An overweight, underpowered, naked bike, with improved-mediocre handling. yawn

These will be a sales flop.

perfect idea oddball!

next they'll put leather bags on it and it'll be the over-nightster 'classic'

put some taiwan made chrome sh*t on it and it'll be the CVO over-nightster

what's really sad is i'd bet money that HD corporate probably considered some of the things we've joked about in this thread!

*sigh...

OK, what’s with the 1202cc engine. Is that a stab at Buell with the 1203cc? or a way to distance HD from Buell?

Upside down forks are cool.

Air box, under gas tank, ram air?

Oiling system from Thunderstorm engines……

Rubber mounted engine, from Buell R&D…..

Two piece rocker covers, more Buell R&D

Rear Brake mounted inboard on swingarm………

Didn’t the 1125CR’s come with a red rim stripe?

XR1200X…..no thanks, I’ll keep my XB12X

and YES! the 1996 S1 Lightning was and always will be 100 times more bike than any XR..XL....

>>>OK, what’s with the 1202cc engine. Is that a stab at Buell with the 1203cc? or a way to distance HD from Buell?

I've seen 1200-1203cc posted for both Buell and XL from time to time.

>>>Oiling system from Thunderstorm engines

they're not the same.

>>>Rubber mounted engine, from Buell R&D…..

XL is not mounted like the Buells.

>>>Rear Brake mounted inboard on swingarm………

I don't even know what this means...

Not sure why everyone needs to belittle this bike. IMO it's a pretty good bike that's marketed poorly. Oh my friggin god it's short by 10hp on an XB. Not everyone gives a crap. Yeah, it's heavy, but again bit everyone cares. Sure they could knock 100 lbs off it but that means LOTS of expensive, model specific parts that would drive the price even higher, which everyone seems to bitch about as well.

The bike isn't for you if you don't like it. I'm not particularly in love with HD lately but are we really shaming them for not calling each of us up to see how we would have done it?

And for the record, if I had $10k to throw around I'd buy a Fourty-Eight tomorrow.

$9995 in 1996 has the same buying power as $13,887.83 in 2010

WHY OH WHY would you put a 18 inch wheel on a bike that would be capable of sport type riding. Its not like you have to "reinvent the wheel" (pun intended). I know the first thing that comes to my mind is that those ass hats want to rape every buyer that is ignorant enough to return to the dealer for tires but at least give them the choices of how they want it done & a little lube. 17 inch tires offer so many choices that it is nuts. Reminds me of the Ninja 500 & 250 without the weight issue.

All in all the bike is the best I have seen from HD but a overweight & underpowered tuber is not exactly setting the world on fire. I would hope that the "mother ship" could at least match its adopted & rejected child in the performance department especially with ten years notice.

Not me. I'd get a Bandit 1250. More horsepower, more torque, more comfortable riding position, ABS brakes, and change in my pocket.

FUHD.

Wow, so a bike that has been out for a year is "new"? Not that I am really surprised...

We belittle this bike because a tuber could run circles around it, even that pre-rubber mounted 1200S that Joshinga posted is better/faster/lighter.
