I am planning on riding up Pike's Peak on June 24th. The Hillclimb is the 26th and 27th. Do they close the road down by Thursday in preparation for the race? (Assuming they close it down at all) Would it be better to reschedule for another day earlier in the week?

Yes, but let me check... They let the racers run the course but I am not sure what day they do it on.

I would ride it earlier in the week myself.

Let me check the specifics as I know a couple of people that race it.

There will be only one Buell in the race this year. It is worth watching and I was toying with the idea of camping up there the night before.

Oh, I see another Buell is registered. A TT..

Last year Rob finished (his goal) with a broken collar bone on his S1...

Thank you for the information and the offer. I'm really getting excited about this trip. This will be the first time I've done any serious motorcycle touring and camping. There are probably a thousand questions I should be asking, if only I knew. I'm just going to keep it simple and learn as I go.

It looks like practice is over by 8:30 AM and then business as usual I assume. There would probably be less traffic on the road Monday or Tuesday, so I think we'll follow your recommendation of earlier in the week rather than later. That would be cool if we could meet up. We'll see how the schedule goes.

No problem, take a copy of the B.R.A.N. with you and when the time gets closer pm me and I will pass my phone numbers to you.

Lynn and I have done a lot of motorcycle camping and are always up for a couple of nights somewhere in Colorado.

And of course there is the Colorado Buell Rider section of this site and maybe we can get a few Buell Riders to hook up for a little ride....
