WOW!
CS5 ROCKS!
http://www.adobecs5videotutorial.com/
I've been using CS3, had to skip out on 4, just downloaded the trial of CS5.
It's amazing.
Won't do things for you, but it sure makes things a lot faster.
The content aware feature is UNREAL.
I'm going to have to upgrade the puter, and save up for CS5!

Things are tight in the part of my world that uses that gear.

I would need a significantly brighter outlook in the markets I service to make that sort of capital expenditure.

CS2 still does what I need for cranking out press and web work.

Gadgets don't pay the bills.

PS7 will do most of the work, and do it on a far lesser computer.

So is it for fun or profit Glitch? - if its fun I'm actually droolin' - If it's profit - I just can't see any right now.

I've pulled horns right in - Leisure industry is pretty lean all over.

+1 PS7. It's all you need (and a few years as a professional drum scanner dude/professional portrait photographer...)
But my favorite is NikonNX2 and .NEF files.

My next professional portrait will be printed from my darkroom.
We don't need no stinkin'puters, it's ANALOGUE baby, all the way!

It's mostly just for fun, if profit shows up, I'll not turn away.
I've been using CS3 ever since it came out, and I'm very comfortable with it.
No way in hell can I afford CS5.
It will be fun to play with for the next 28 days though.
I've pulled horns right in - Leisure industry is pretty lean all over.
True that

I've got to break down and start learning it sometime. I bought CS4 mostly because of the academic discount which made it less than $200 but haven't even looked at it yet.

I'm amazed at what all the various photo packages do from Capture NX, Light Room and Aperture.

CS4 is awesome as well.
Grass is greener on the version I don't own?
Probably.
I love Photoshop.
The photo stuff is really cool.
You can take a boring color washed photo, and make a dramatic black and white, or fix it up to make it look like you had perfect light to take the picture in.
Academic discount!
Why didn't I think of that!
Thanks Court!

I bought CS4 on Kendra's academic discount for about $250.00. Much better than CS2 for sure. Can only imagine how good CS5 might be.

I just got CS5.

There are a lot of great features on it, the content aware stuff is really magical, and an offshoot of that is that the healing tool finally works.

If one has a computer that works in 64 bit mode, Photoshop will access an incredible amount of ram.

I have 17 gigs on my Mac Pro, and in 64 bit mode, it will address almost 12 gigs.

You can bet that speeds things a bit.

Printing a 40 x60" print right now, and PS just breezed through it. I can remember when one crossed ones fingers and just hoped that after an hour or so the printer would start working.

Usually it did not.

I've found it for around $500, not sure how they can sell it for that, haven't checked with school yet.

So I guess my photoshop elements V3 install isn't gonna impress any of you guys?
It's not what version you have, it's what you can do with it that matters.
Back in the PhotoShop 3 days, the guy that was showing me some tricks could do some impressive things.
I got pretty good in the PhotoShop 5 days.
Funny thing is I didn't like PhotoShop at first, I was into Paint Shop Pro.

Well, I figured the best thing to do would be something I already knew, to get acquainted.
The old tools are still there, they only work better.
Extra nice, when you're working and say "man, it ought to..." or "I wish it would..."
you get to the next version, and a developer was thinking the same way as you.
Anyway, I took this

Should have been something else at higher res...but this is a Buell board after all ; )
And made this

Nothing much I know, but I'm havin' fun.

It's like vector man, vector.

Never was a fan of Illustrator.
If I need vector, I use Inkscape, if I need drawing, I use Photoshop with my Wacom tablet.

What's your vector Victor?

Vector Victor? Freehand was great.
I used to do the brochures for building companies and artists impressions of construction projects in it.

But alas Frustrator is frustrator. Only if I need fancy typography do I launch it - and even then only if it's type on a path or in a shape - otherwise I'd rather go indesign.
