OK, since I no longer have a Digital Tech at my fingertips I've gotten a copy of ECMSpy and a USB cable for it. I run a PC laptop, Win XP, with USB ports. I was reading on the xopti website, though, that there are USB drivers? Do I need to get one of those to make this work? I admit to only scanning quickly since I'm about to be late for work...but any insight from others would be great. I'm not looking into doing any tuning per se - the map in my bike is damned near PERFECT (thanks Michael!!), but I need to do a TPS reset BAD ('06 Uly)...

If memory serves you need the driver in order for the computer to recognize the cable. So Yes.

You need the FTDI Virtual COM Port drivers.

Bobo "First select the Gauges screen and connect to the ECM.
On the front left of the engine, between the airscoop and the engine is the Idle adjust screw, which simply adjusts the butterfly in the injector to allow air through for tickover. Adjust this screw until the throttle % drops to 0. Keep winding the screw out a bit further and hold the throttle closed with light clockwise pressure on the throttle grip.
Select the Functions tab on ECM Spy and select TPS Reset.[1]
Wind in the idle adjust screw until the TPS is set to approx 4.6 degrees or 5.1% This should be approximately correct for tick over.
That's all there is to resetting the TPS! Start the bike and check tick over is ok, adjust the idle to get a steady tick over."

I've had the best luck just extracting the zipped file and then when you plug the cable in point Windows to the folder and let it install.

Problem is, I trust Windoze as far as I can throw it. I have XP now and it doesn't crash - too much - so "if it ain't broke" and all that.

If I could afford a Mac....I'd run away from Microsquash in a heartbeat. Guess I better go sell some more RV's : )

Win 7 makes XP feel like a tuber, including the fact it wont run tuber aged 16 bit applications, oh and I don't even need to comment on the improved reliability. Other than quarterly shutdowns for Windows Update, my computer is never off except during power failures. : )

Try it, you will be like "Wow how did I use this piece of crap OS for 10 years?"

I have "7" on this notebook and it is better than the XP I have on my desktop. In fact, I bought this thing mainly to use ECM Spy...

Alright, got the TPS reset but have a question. In the ECM runtime screen, there are a series of squares at the lower left: s10, s11, s12, up to s17. The boxes are blue on mine for 10, 12, 13. 11 is not blue (unchecked?). I have no idea what those are...should they be blued out in a series?

I believe that they are bit states inside the ecm watch the little boxes and if you can get to say the inlet air temp sensor unplug it you should see one change state I think white to blue.

where 0 = off and 1 = on
0 = white 1 = blue

Rat, some things like the timing test cant be read in real time there is a delay called latentcy the little blue boxes are depending on what it references cycling at rates beyond the software / hardeare comunication rate.. so they stay on or blink randomly as the computer program cant keep up.
