and BTW, it's no longer "Ferris".
The young daughter of Donna Perry was so overwhelmed by "someone calling from CALIFORNIA MOM!" when she got that first call from him that she has since renamed him "Hollywood". Fitting me thinks.

D,

Thanks for the info. Can't wait to meet the newly renamed Hollywood! : ) Is he like the old Ferris or is he a glamor biker now? ; )

This ought to be good . . . . the next thing someone will be wanting us to buy JB2 a suit and tie . . what's the world coming to.

We all get old and morphed into things and D stays young, gorgeous and our sole contact with reality.

T'aint fair I tell ya . . .

Court, thanks for the save! I had to nuke the pix of D a few posts back because, um, my introduction lacked appropriate grace. However, you've provided the perfect words of redemption. I couldn't agree with you more:

Denise stays young, gorgeous and our sole contact with reality. : )

Taken a week or so ago at one of our favorite local watering holes. Prior knows this place: Take a look on the pavement just below D's right shoulder and you can still see the burnout marks from his rental car...

You . . . . like several of us . . . . wandered into the arms of women above our station. . . . pretty and smart as whips.

I first met D 15 years ago, she was strikingly gorgeous then and is today.

I bring myself back to the real world by looking of pictures of you and I from 1998 and realize that time and tide wash different folks onto different beaches.

Face it . . guys like you, I, Erik, JB2 and a host of others got damn lucky.

Hollywood? I love it. Sent you an email o the benefit donation, but our email's been down for a while... I'll sent you my donation after work.

Glad to hear the Pay it forward TV is on to it's next owner- funny story on that one...

I'm one of those damn lucky ones too, Heather's followed me to Iowa, then to NC and now even puts up with the occasional "I'll be home before lunch" Sunday trips with 'Hollywood' when we both end up rolling home closer to supper time... Life's grand, glad to have you all in it!

And I am nice to rental cars- they always get washed and get a full tank of fuel before being returned. Gotta pass the sniff test, you know...

Not the best picture, but you can see the corner of the Tahoe I had up northern Alberta back in March on a pipeline side. She's pretty clean in this one, picked the truck up with 80km on it, and put 1300km on in 4 days, mostly dirt/mud haul roads and pipeline right-of-way. Mud on the back window was 4" thick when I got it back to Edmonton, and the doors were scraping the mud on the running boards. Traction control will toast a set of brakes at 100 km/hr on muddy roads if you don't turn it off...

This is the pipeline 'spread'- lots of big iron...

Some humor from the site- when you're 5+ hours from what most of us call a town, you've got to find some entertainment...

Well Court, you confirmed it - the eyes are the first to go. : )
...although, maybe the mind does go first... lessee, 15 years? methinks longer, but that's okay... will take any reduction in years I can get. Just don't tell Hollywood, got him bamboozolled.

WTF? Me in a suit? It has happened.

>> Face it . . guys like you, I, Erik, JB2 and a host of others got damn lucky.

Truer words were never spoken. Even when I clean up and don a suit I am no match for my girl. I often wonder what she sees in this crusty old hard-ass.

Easy.

Same thing we do.

I think of you once a day when I sit down in my library. I keep Big Jim's books right in front of all the science and engineering.

Learned more from him than anyone I've never met and my best chance for the rest of the lessons is to keep close track of you.

I still laugh about the description I wrote of you describing the Team Elves Treasurer.

Best wishes my friend.

Truer words were never spoken, brother! I'd say we both got really, really lucky:

KB1 & JB2 and D, on our way back from Spidey's wedding, 4/27/2008.

JB2, Alex ain't particularly old or crusty (yet), but I bet he's countin' his blessings to have hooked up with a gal as pretty and smart as Heather:

Prior & Heather at Mabry Mill, Blue Ridge Parkway

And speaking of lucky guys (and their gorgeous gals), here's a whole gaggle of 'em:

Twig & Patty, Denise, Ulywife, Heather & Prior, and Carlos

Unfortunately, Ulywife & Carlos had to be separated for this photo as she had just put him on PRN (Puerto Rican notice). Remind Court to remind me to tell you sometime...

Thanks Court... I think : )

Dad's shoes were pretty big to fill and I have no problem accepting that I have plenty of room left. JB3 is now following his footsteps though. He's back in college to finish his degree in electrical engineering and as an underclassman has been offered a chance to work on a research project. He's carrying a 4.0 in his heavily weighted studies and is the only underclassman to have ever been offered this chance at his college. Again it begs to question how I got so damn lucky with Kim and our kids. Yes they get their smarts from her.

JB3, Hard at work for Metro Electric. He's written their estimating program and is now designing electrical circuit boards for M.E. that aren't available in the marketplace.

Hollywood and Reindog,

Thanks both!

Ferris, er... uh... Hollywood, from what I can tell you had the same mojo going for you. 'Been eeking away at a musical/internet friendship with your son. He sounds like he's doing well for himself and is broadly versed in music. He has several pictures of his sis on Facebook, and, given that your Mom thinks we might have been cut from the same rock, you've done extremely well with your children too. The congrats go both ways brother!

Thanks, brother. For two kids that led such an unusual childhood, Brynn and Wade continue to make their ol' man proud. : )

Denise, Brynn and her long-time beau Chris.

Wade and his tractor when he was still doing long-haul.

This may be the most amazing thread yet . . . the amazing thing about these amazing people is that it doesn't amaze me knowing their folks.

I have to tell you . . . kids are the most amazing thing in the world.

I love this thread.
