Once they go there, they are effectively dead. I didn't see anything offensive in the moved threads so whoever did this, quashed the give and take of ideas and that REALLY sucks. Why not move archery and photography and Ipads and Avatar and guns also as they are not directly related to Buells? The admin who did this needs better judgment and understanding of what Badweb is about. I understand that some threads get out of hand and are justified in the move but this isn't the case here. If the policy of Badweb is to not have discussions about health care and politics, then please officially state it as such. If this is the new face of Badweb, then I guess I need to reconsider whether I wish to remain a member and I have been a member for MANY years. PS: The kooks and leftazoids don't bother me in the least and I look forward to partying with them in the future. | ||

Try and keep one thing in mind, this is a MOTORCYCLE forum! Then you will be able to see why other crap is sent to the backfire page. This us a great place to discuss and learn all about motorcycles. But not such a good forum for politics. I sometimes wonder why the sponsors pay to advertise here when so many treads have nothing to do about motorcycles. I just hope this forum can fully return to dealing with motorcycles. Afterall that's what made this such a great motorcycle forum to begin with! Just remember to stick to motorcycles and we'll keep this a great forum! | ||

I don't know anything about the threads that got moved, but I have a couple of thoughts: 1) once here (Quick Board) they are NOT effectively dead. I don't know any stats or anything, but I would venture a bet that the Quick Board get s the MOST traffic of any section of BadWeb! 2) You said "Why not move archery and photography and Ipads and Avatar and guns also as they are not directly related to Buells?" Because that is what the Quick Board is for! Specifically, it is "For general Buell, non-Buell and other moto-related talk or whatever else is on your mind." 3) Usually when the thread gets out of hand (you MUST be nice to play here.), NSFW, or not family friendly it will get moved there. | ||

Froggy, I see your smiley but the attempt at humor is not appreciated. There were political debate going on and we were learning valid opposition viewpoints finally presented in a logical, non-emotional way. We were all learning something. You can move me all you want but I have been a valuable Badweb member for many years. This is Quickboard, not the technical motorcycle sections. There was nothing wrong with the moved threads. Andy, I agree with everything you wrote except I was talking about effective thread death when it is moved to Backfire, not Quickboard. If Badweb only allows discourse about Buell motorcycles, then what a boring place it will become. There are already boring Buell sites that are yawners and that is why most people return home to Badweb. If this is no longer the case, then that is OK too. I surf at my own free will. | ||

Don't give me any crap about threads dieing off once they hit the BFB, as the Ladies on Bikes thread is at almost 2000 posts. Hell it was only a few hundred tops when it got moved several YEARS ago. I sometimes wonder why the sponsors pay to advertise here when so many treads have nothing to do about motorcycles. Because effective advertising is the kind that stays in your face for the longest possible period of time. Motorcyclists who mostly happen to ride Buells congregate here to discuss whatever. As they do so, they have American Sport Bike or Knight Design LLC Buell Billet Accessories right there *BAM* in my face, even as I write this. You see, it doesn't matter what we talk about to the advertisers. What matters is that the ads sit there in our faces while we wax metaphoric on the topic du jour. And that ours are the faces of Buell riders for the most part. Want to know why I'm here? I'm an EX-Buell owner, so what am I still doing here? I'm here because I still ride with SCAB, and have been for years, even though I sold my Buell in 2008. On various SCAB rides, I've been asked by fellow BadWeBbers why I was no longer active on the board. I answer "because I don't have a Buell any more." They all said the same thing: "So what?" I can still contribute to Buellcentric conversations because I had to do a lot of my own work to the bike and learned many things I can pass on to others, the way they were passed on to me. By people like Al Lighton, and my neighbor Brian who has an S3T and an XB. It gets to a certain point where talking only about Buells kind of hits a wall... not much to say, until somebody breaks down or has some kind of electrical problem, posts it and people start to chime in with their experience and/or driving hundreds of miles to deliver a rare part to a fellow Bueller so he can get back on the road. In between those times, we could all desert this board and go elsewhere to blog about our ant farms and home wineries... OR we could stay here and troll amongst ourselves, playing on each others' apparent shortcomings and/or achievements, trials and tribulations... and instead of looking at ads for FREE CANADIAN VIAGRA or GET C1ALIS CH3AP! we can look at the modest banners of fine businesses, the proprietors of which are Buellers like ourselves. The board is what we make it, and Blake pretty much leaves us to our own devices. We do get out of hand once in a while, but we all seem to get over it eventually whatever the outcome. Blake and the moderators are people with faults just like me, maybe worse, maybe better. Sometimes if something gets moved and we don't personally see the reason for it then we're free to make our own choice as far as what to do next. I call it "voting with my feet". I've been at odds with more than one member here... for reasons ranging from my political views to other people's complaints about my signature graphics.  As you can see, there is no length to which I will not go to make even the smallest point. | ||

So why do we talk about archery, movies, guns, computers, IPODS, cameras, Cyclonedon? we could, but since this is a motorcycle forum I really don't think it's appropriate You mentioned FBRAT, which I think is BadWed's best ever thread ever because it focused on a new motorcycle, the XB12X Ulysses and Ferris Bueller riding a new motorcycle across the country was the best tread ever on BadWeb, and I highly recommend for those who have not followed to review, to show what BadWeb is truly about, MOTORCYCLING!!! I remember when I first heard about BadWeb, I was talking to my dealer's salesman when I asked him a question about the Buell Ulysses and he told me to check out BadWeb, he said that they would have the answer to my question. This is the best place to learn about Buell Motorcycles, but it's a terrible forum to discuss politics! Now not to take that wrong, I really love hearing about Buell Motorcycles, but I could care less about people's political views, I think there are other forums to discuss that crap! Hopefully, we can get this forum back to that level of a motorcycle quality! Now for me comment on sponsors advertising here on BadWeb, it comes down to this, why would someone who use to sell Buell Motorcycles continue to pay to advertise Buell on BadWeb when the Buell motorcycle company is no longer in business. I firmly believe that Erik Buell will be producing motorcycles again for street purposes. The only question I have is why support a motorcycle forum that spends so much time discussing other topics that don't pertains motorcycles? That is why I like to stay focused on the subject! BUELL MOTORCYCLES!!! Does anyone have a problem with that? | ||

Hey, this is the Quickboard, just click on the "Topics" button at the top of the page then scroll down to find the board of your choice. There's well over a dozen with exclusively motorcycle oriented content if that's what you want. Personally, I find a good number of the threads on Quickboard distasteful to me. Generally due to their intolerant attitudes, & I don't bother to revisit them unless I feel I have something constructive to add myself. I won't deny anyone's right to spit their dummy out though. When I feel a need for a change of scene, I'll go hang around on other fora, such as BuelletinBoard or Advrider or Lancisti. It's just like drinking in a different bar for a change. And thank goodness they're there. Cyclonedon, I spend most of my internet forum time on Quickboard BECAUSE it's not purely motorcycles. If it became as you would like it to be, I would no longer be here. If you want pure motorcycle content, go somewhere where that's the case. Bleating about that here is like going into a cocktail bar & complaining that they don't serve only beer. | ||

Cyclonedon, thank you, very much appreciated. I also appreciate you taking the time to express your belief that BWB should be motorcycle content ONLY. I don't agree, but at least you took the time to present your viewpoint in a thoughtful, logical fashion, something which seems all too rare around here sometimes. I disagree that talking politics has no business here. I DO wish, however, that discussions about politics could be done in a mature, respectful manner, and not quickly devolve into rock-throwing and name-calling. There's can be much to learn from listening to a well-informed and well-presented viewpoint regardless of subject matter, even on a subject as potentially volatile as politics. This is only my opinion, of course. I would add that since BWB's founder and owner, Mr. Blake Rudy, is also very well informed and outspoken in his political views, it would seem that BWB's Custodians would encourage thoughtful, well-articulated political discourse, not discourage it. i very rarely go to any other forums cause i can get a little of everything right here. and sometimes, it just gets funny while other times, it's offensive. but since i'm not automatically directed to these other threads, i have a choice to view and or contribute to said threads. it's like my buddy cheech asking me about going to the the plant city bike night. if i want to look at bikes i'll open my garage door and if i want to look at more i'll go up to his house. i don't have to go out there cause i have everything right here. whether it's a good laugh or a perspective from someone else's point of view, i still enjoy coming right here to the quick board more than any other place. if it really ain't broke, don't fix it. | ||
