There is a telethon to help the flooded people of the Nashville area. This area had almost 14" of rain on Saturday and Sunday. You can see the live streaming video at wsmv.com . We have a number of Buelligans in this area that have lost a lot! Since this was a 500 year flood, most people did not have flood insurance. Many, many families lost all. Vince Gill started this telethon with a $100,000 donation! The music industry has really turned out to entertain and support the relief effort. FWIW, Taylor Swift just donated $500,000! I'm watching the telethon now. They are showing clips of my neighborhood. I lost a lot, but not as much as others. The main living area is dry, but I lost my shop and garage....including this:  With the repair cost of my house, and no flood coverage, I won't have a motorcycle for quite some time. Insurance is going to haul off my beloved CR and call it totaled.  On the bright side, a friend got my scooter running again. Something to be said for low tech Chinese made junk. | ||

If you look in the picture I posted, you can see the water line just below the fire extinguisher mounted on the wall. I would guess about 5 feet of water. | ||

i was gonna call the telethon but if you got a paypal acct chad, i'd just as well send a few bucks to someone i know of opposed to not knowing where it will go. it wouldn't be that much but it could help a little. | ||

Chad- one tip for you gleaned from Hurricane Hugo: don't chunk your appliances. Things like washers and dryers can be saved by drying them out thoroughly. I had a friend that went around after Hugo picking up washers and dryers people had discarded by the road. Some had even been flooded with salt water. He'd flush them out with fresh water and then dry them out with compressed air and then a hair dryer paying particular attention to the motor and electrical parts. 95% worked flawlessly afterwards. He'd give the ones he fixed to people who'd lost their stuff in the hurricane. I'm sure you could stand to avoid dropping ~$1k on a new washer and dryer now so I thought I'd pass this along. | ||

Wait Chad: cant you get the thing back as salvage, if it has been sitting perhaps salvage is not that big of a deal the inlets (unless you pulled the inner cover are in essencialy a diving bell, the outlets would also have tended to resist filling, its remotely possible that with an oil change and some limited work it could be made ridable you are talking fluid changes for the most part if done now. how much for it salvage? | ||

The insurance company hasn't picked it up yet, so I can always call them and tell them I'm going to repair it. I simply don't have the resources to mess with it.
