OK, this wasn't from a dealer, but a few days after I got my XB I had a HD rider pull up next to me at a light and commented on my bike. The light turned green and we both took off, I just paced him still following the break-in procedure of keeping it under 3K rpm. At the next light he laughed and said "I thought those were supposed to be fast!"

That ended the break-in of my bike! I honestly had no idea he thought we were racing at the first light.

Luckily my dealer is pretty pro-Buell. More than once the sales manager has handed a customer off to me to talk about the bikes, lol. The parts guy they have is very knoweldgable both in factory stuff and aftermarket, in fact he had ordered the updated wiring harness for my 1125 without me even asking because he knew I'd be in for it. They don't really have people in service anymore that are "super-Buell", maybe one guy... but they always listen to what I have to say and the parts guy helps me out if I need it.

my latest story is

a teacher at school who's husband has a harley (no idea what kind) was walking by the other day when i was walking out to my bike and she said she hated crotch rockets only due to the whiney sound they make. i laughed and said "yea its so annoying i hate the way they sound to." she gave me a look as to "why do you ride one then?" i then started it and road away without any further convorsation.

a few days later bikes came up in the convorsation our class was having (i didnt start it i swear!) and she said i have the best crotch rocket she's ever seen b/c it doesnt wine like all the others haha

I ordered an oil filter almost 8 weeks ago, paid cash, and I have yet to receive it. When I was there they tried not ordering it by saying "we shut that buell thing down, we ain't making no parts no more". The parts guy's name is CATFISH. He works at Heart of Dixie HD in Pelham.

How times change, when I was a young-un, my dad rode a 47 knucklehead that been a hill climber, "bored-stroked-cammed-valved-relieved-wouldn't run right till you got it over 80" and that was known as a crotch rocket.
As to dealer ineptitude, I have had a dealer tell me HD never made/sold a motocrosser while mine was in the back of my truck on the way to the races, and recently had one tell me the new 1125 wouldn't need valve adjustments cuz it had hydraulic lifters...
but mostly the dealers here in Oregon have just ignored me when I pull into their shops on my Buell, even Latus, so I do my own work, and order parts online from American Sport Bike or other reputable, knowledgeable Buell people.
