I'm wondering wich is better, the back protectors that go inside the pocket on your suit/jacket, or the seperate ones that go under. I noticed most of the racers look like they have the kind that goes under the jacket. | ||

If you want to know what is the best safety gear, look at what the professionals use. The best type of back protector is the one that will stay in place when needed. If I'm going on an easy paced cruise, I feel comfortable with the one that is in my jacket, if going out for a more aggressive ride, I'll put on my Knox back protector under that so I'm doubled up. | ||

I just brought up the racers as I would think they'd wear whats bast maybe. Seems as my easy cruises always end up more agressive anyway. | ||

The ones that have several straps that you wear under the suit are best because they are least likely to move. | ||

Put me in the "both" category as well. I have one in the jacket, and a separate Icon back protector. I ended up with the Icon in a trade for some KLR parts, it's probably not the one I would have chosen for cash in pocket, but it's not bad. | ||

I have a Bohn Carbon Kelvar 6 plate back protector,that I would like to sell.It fits riders from 5' to 5'8".They sell new for 110 plus shipping,I'll take 75 shipped in the lower 48. It's new and never worn. | ||

+1 on forcefield and Bohn. The best type won't fit in your average street jacket. For the street I like Icon Field Armor. | ||

Seek a protector that provides both front and rear protection. Studies are showing that there are more incidents involving chest impacts than previously thought. I will probably be buying a Bohn protector next go around. I currently use a 8 plate Dainese protector. I feel naked without it. | ||

The Bohn Carbon Kelvar is only 1/2" thick and fits nicely under a jacket. |
