For you military/police/corrections/outdoor guys, Danners are the way to go. Just bought my second pair, first pair lasted for 11 years. Even after 11 years of wear, I could have sent them to Danner for recrafting. Made in the USA (Partland, Oregon), waterproof (gore-tex), Vibram outsoles, quality leather. Found my pair on ebay: $245 boot for $128.

Not all Danners are made in the US. I had a pair of side zip striker tactical-type boots that were made in China. They were super comfortable, but the soles split across the ball of my feet after about 2 years.

They still do make quality USA made boots though.

I had a pair of Danners last year as a Sapper Instructor and man they were comfy! Only problem is that the sole didn't last more than 6 months... Granted the number of miles on those boots were up there in a 6 month period but still, the soles really got to me.

I believe only the stitch down boots(ie the hi-end line) are made in the USA now.

Rule of thumb with Danner's if the sole is molded on made in China if sole is Sewn on may be made in the USA

My Quarry 2.0, sewn on sole, made in China. Until recently I was under the impression all Danners were made in USA. Local store set me straight. Tough finding one affordable brand made in USA across the board.

If you mean Wallyworld prices for affordable it won't happen. Spend a couple of hundred on good American boots resole them a couple of times 10 years of use easy.

Never tried Danner but I am a fan of Rockys and Georgia boots. Both pairs of my Rockys are very comfortable and my Georgia boots are built like a tank. I have had them for 3 years( I am HARD on boots) or so and I still wear them everyday the temp is above 50. I will keep Danners in mind when I look for new summer boots. I have been thinking about a summer military boot for my next pair.

my dad bought some of the "military issued spec" danners (250$$) and they lasted MAYBE 6 months of walking in the desert, rivers, and mountains EVERYDAY for about 5 miles....on the other hand the 30$ walmart survivor boots last him about 2 YEARS in the EXACT same conditions...i guess he just got a bad pair or somethin, but ill never buy a pair after seeing how they feel apart on him...but to each their own ; )
