It started with us, ohhh... I think 4-5 years ago when Diablobrian asked where he could park his camper for homecoming. I immediately offered up my place. Brian, his son Kyle, and some weird tattoed, pierced, fungus hating guy (aka no_rice> ; )) stayed with us. Brian hasn't made every homecoming, but no_rice has. And every time, he's stayed with us. Just keep him away from your kids. He'll teach them how to stunt on their tricycles. ; )

The same year, I met a Father and his Son from Minnesota. His Son was going to be headed to the Milwaukee School of Engineering here. That would be Trackpop & Carparts(aka Matt and Greg). Matt has since graduated and moved back to Minnesota, and is sorely missed as the best, and most trusted riding buddy I'll ever have. They've stayed with us when they came down for track days, the last ride, and other Buell events.

Here's a stunning picture of Carparts and no_rice

I've even ended up pitting for Matt on his rookie CCS race.

I've had so many people stay with us, and made so many lasting friends and memories. I wouldn't trade those times for ANYTHING

Last year, I got a phone call from Ourdee.
I already had, I think 4-5 people staying at my house for homecoming. But offered up my limited to space to him, since his bike broke down, on the way TO the campsite he was going to be staying at for homecoming. I offered him a sleeping bag/couch/floor for the night if his bike wasn't fixed in a timely manor. He ended up on Hals rental Uly to get to his desired camp site. But, as I told him, I've always got room for a Bueller.

So, if I were you, don't hesitate to get personally involved with the Buell community. You'll never regret it.

awwwww, isn't love grand?????

as far as badwebbers go, i've only had one rip me off. but all the ones that i have met in person have turned out to be really great people which is why i will try and go out of my way to meet or to help another badwebber when possible. my name and number is in the B.R.A.N. in case someone does need help and have offered people a place to stay. and outside of the heated arguments that happen when it comes to politics, not to many wouldn't help each other out here.

Wasn't me!

I'd be one thing if we were soliciting sex here. Other than some disturbing photos of Spidey in panties all is well with this place. Hell I don't even have my 9R anymore and I still hang out. I just need to get to some of these shin digs now.

I've met a few, but they all seem to be 1125 owners. Something about absolute power corrupting absolutely

Hey, watch it Froggy!

I traveled 250 miles to a place I had never been before and stayed in a cabin with 15 people I didn't know my first time at March Badness.

And you've been back each year! We've had 15 people in C3 Central each year and not always the same people. Never have we had any issues.

In fact, two years ago 3 of us decided to bring our 3 teenage daughters to March Badness. They had a great time and not once did we worry about the people they would encounter at a Buell event.

As others have said, you are an adult and have more life experience than your 11 year old daughter. I still watch my 15 year old on the internet. It's not always easy to explain why parents can and children cannot, it just is. As I tell my kids, "it doesn't come in why".

Last year was my first HC. I went into without having ever met another Bueller. Met several great people, had maybe the best tour guide ever in Steve Mackay, was welcomed into the Buell family by Court and Crusty and went to a grade school to pick Steve and Pinky's boy with 6 or 7 other Buells. Scary stuff!

Yeah, your wife should be worried that you will meet great people that will help you out in a pinch and welcome you like a family member.

Welcome to the family!!

My wife couldn't understand about the Buell/Badweb thing either, & when I told her I was flying off to Newfoundland to meet people I didn't know, who were going to lend me a bike & all, she had a job to get her head round it too.
But I've been driving trucks all over Europe for many years so she reckoned I could take care of myself.
We've since been back as a family, that's how it goes.
I've met a some great people through owning a Buell & some of them have become friends for life.

If you'd like me to call your wife to put her mind at rest I'd be happy to do so, just PM me your phone number.

As for the thread title, the best advice I can give you is "Don't have kids".

PS, show her this thread, & also Storm Fronts, so she can see for herself what it's all about.

I have trusted nameless faceless people here with my info to get a part, make a meet up, go for a ride, help out with a bike fix, offer up a spot to crash if you are in the neck of woods,... I wont be doing that on some of the other boards I am on. Tailor your activity to your audience and venue; safety first; fun will follow.

dont believe a thing they say. some of the people on here are just plan weird....

im not weird, the consensus seems to be more nuts then weird... ok maybe weird too...

anyway, i have met alot of people from this board over the years, and am glad to have do that. lots of great experiances. i only met glitch and ft bstrd once before at an event and just spent some nights on each of there couches last week. im very glad i made the time to stop by and see both of them, and it even allowed me to run into a few other buellers i hadnt seen for a looong time. was great to catch up and am glad i stopped to see both. i even let one of them(lets call him crash) put around 400 miles on my new cr while i rode my r around with a few other people i barely new, all day long! was great!

this was on the way back from packing up and moving 22 hours from home to live at a badwebbers house and work at his buell/harley shop in florida for the last 3+ months, having only met the man twice at buells events.

the good out weigh the bad 1000 to 1 on here. you may not always see eye to eye with someone on this board, but almost all of them wouldnt hesitate to do anything they could for you when it was needed.

went to a grade school to pick Steve and Pinky's boy with 6 or 7 other Buells. Scary stuff!

Statz, that was scary stuff! Scary for the parents at Thomas' Catholic school! I Loved it!!

OK, as a Bueller and wife of a Bueller(Steve Mackay) I myself was concerned with going to my 1st homecoming with our son. We attended the West Bend, WI festivities as a family and would not have changed a thing! I rode my Purple Blast during Battle Trax right along side Mr. Flickinger himself. After, my hubby and I ate lunch with the man. Everyone was also very nice to our son.

There are certain events I won't bring our son to, the banquet and concert, but this is more for a noise sake than anything else.

"Wolfridgerider, came down to spend the night, and swap his R tail section, for my S tail section."

TMI! What you two do in private is your own business, but please! Sheesh!

"I've taken the stranger chance here several times"

Would that be akin to riding a mini-bike with Tim (No_Rice) on pillion?

"You cannot possibly compare apples to oranges here."

Hah. That's one of the staple tactics for most of BadWeB's resident trolls. Apples are usually red and crisp with a thin skin whereas oranges are orange with a thick rind and lots of juicy pulpiness inside. Both grow on trees and can be used to make some fine beverages.

"I'd be one thing if we were soliciting sex here."

I'm afraid to ask if the above includes a typo.

The daughter may have a valid point.

What's with all this open friendliness and congeniality? I thought we were a secret society! No t-shirts, no patches! Shhhh.

I've met a few people on here. Went to bike week and metup with couple buell dudes (OCSteve) and them. Good peoples!! I usually have a good sense to ferret out shady people and haven't met a Bueller I didn't like or trust yet. Only other peeps I've met have been from my local DC Sportbike forum, and have some close friends and older members that have told me who to watch out for and such. Plus bad people don't ride Buells. It's impossible ; )

Thank you all for the helpful reply's and info. I made a roladex with everybody's profile on badweb in alphabetical order. I gave it to my wife and told her if I wasn't to return there is the list of people to start investigating............ Nahh Just kidding. really ......I'm not worried nor is she, actually she thought it was cool that everybody had info, opinions, and great things to say of "BUELL OWNERS". As far as my daughter goes I am just going to tell her i'm going riding with "friends" she doesnt need to know anything else.
