Windows is cool as well as Droid. And they do not need any special I phone plan that ATT requires... (I am not sure what Verison's beef is gonna be...) |

It's just rumor with neither Apple nor Verizon confirming. Get the Droid... it's a better phone/PDA anyway. |

Neither apple nor verizon are going to confirm it because 2 things would happen: 1) Iphone sales from AT&T would cease 2) Other smart phone sales from Verizon would cease. They aren't going to announce anything till it's go time. It'd simply be a terrible business decision. The I-phone was just rated number 1 in a new comparison. If it gets Verizon's number 1 coverage, it'll be impossible to beat. |

That "iPhone for Verizon" rumor has been around the internet pretty much since before the iPhone even hit the market. I seriously doubt there will be one, but that's just my opinion. I have no inside knowledge on it. Droid does...require a more expensive data plan. My bill went up $30 a month for unlimited 3G service. I had the unlimited plan on my LG Voyager but it's browser was so limited I never really used it. A coworker and I were comparing his new iPhone to my Droid, there are quite a few apps that are the same. The touch screens perform the same. The speed seems to be about the same as far as switching between apps, but loading webpages the iPhone was definitely a lot slower. Plus I was able to connect to our wireless router at work and see my Windows desktop in my office... the iPhone couldn't even see the signal. |

Wait a few weeks. The HTC "Incredible" (hopped up Nexus 1) is supposed to be coming to Verizon at the end of the month. It'll blow the Motorola Droid and the iPhone out of the water. |

What special "plan" is that? Every smart phone has a $30 a month data plan on AT&T. Which is EXACTLY the same as Verizon. Plus, you'd have to pay $3 a month to get visual voice mail on a Verizon droid. that's free on the AT&T "special iPhone plan".

Being a tech geek, I've played with a Droid, numerous Windows Mobile devices, and various other smartphones. None of them can touch an iPhone. Nothing comes close really. AT&T's service leaves something to be desired, but by in large it works fine. I've had some instances where I felt I should have had a signal and didn't. As for cost, AT&T isn't any more expensive than anyone else (save for T-Mobile, which is a bargain, but with more signal issues). I start a new job on Monday, and it's with a Microsoft Gold Solutions Provider, so I am sure the iPhone will not be permitted. I hope not, but I'll see. |

Droid. Verizon doesn't try to maintain a fascist grip on the Droid app store unlike At&T and the Iphone. Plus Iphones are like GSXRs...everyone and their mom has one Plus if you plan on actually using it as a phone, be aware of the crappy AT&T coverage. Number one complaint from my buddies with Iphones is dropped calls are frequent. For Verizon/Droid this ain't a problem. (Message edited by b00stzx3 on April 08, 2010) |

there was an article out just last week in the business section saying that Apple has issued a cantract from a foreign company to start mass production of the iPhone in the CDMA (Verizon's , Sprints, & T-Moble's) network in September which should make them available by Christmas time. They didn't say who would be getting them but best bet is Verizon first and the other carriers shortly after wards. As far as the phones, both the iPhone and the Droid are excellent phones but it really comes down to the network and this is the area where Verizon is far better than AT&T. I just busted my Blackberry last week so I ordered a new Droid which should be received here today because I couldn't wait for Verizon to get the iPhone and I since I live in an area where AT&T has a dead zone in cell phone reception it was an easy choice for me. I've had Verizon for 15 years now and they are NOT the easiest company to work with but they still have the best service and pricing for a long term plan on cell phones. I really see the cell phone industry changing in the next couple of years with more dropping the long term contracts. We'll just have to wait and see about that. |

google "iphone verizon", there are dozens of news articles on the subject. reality is that apple unveils new iphones in mid summer, early july i think every year. that's when we'll know for sure what's going on. |

I have neither Verizon or ATT for a cell phone carrier because both SUCK for coverage in my home area. My question is(may be a silly question but I am not a tech geek) I can not use an iphone or the new droid unless I go with Verizon or ATT correct? |

Iphone plan, which is the exact same thing as the normal data plan, but more expensive. |

Droid is exclusive to Verizon, and the iPhone is exclusive to AT&T (for now). The Google Nexus phone is available on T-Mobile for now, but should be available on other carriers soon. |

Must be that "new math". The cheapest "iPhone Plan" add-on is $30 The cheapest smartphone plan add-on is $30 |

I wasn't referring to DATA but minuet plans. At the ATT store the Cheapest min plan you can get for the Iphone was 70 bucks versus 40 for the other smart phones or regular phones. But research on the online ATT store seems that is has changed over the last month or Online or the store is wrong. But man you apple people are soooo sensitive... |

Verizon + DROID = happiness... this thing is the best phone I've ever had. With the numerous GPS related applications you can find anything anywhere anytime and with the handful of weather applications you can route yourself around storm systems on the fly. I just did this running to Cleveland in March and without the DROID I'd have hit two storm cells. my two cents (not arguing costs, just pointing out a value) superdave |

I have the same phone spidy, but the droids that verizon has runs android 2.0 while the sprint phones run android 1.5. I compared mine to a verizon motorola droid, and it had cooler and more applications than 1.5 did. Not a huge difference because they run so much alike, but a little different. |

Well, one of my complaints are covered in the just announced iPhone OS 4.0 announcement. The iPhone will now multi-task. |

Let me clear something up here. "Android" is the operating system by Google. "Droid" is a phone made by Motorola. "Droid Eris" is a phone made by HTC. They all run the Google Android OS, but not all the same version. Quite a few people seem to have trouble keeping these things separate. Now, back to this stupid debate. E-peens at the ready! |

If you want to see if the iphone to verizon rumors are true then go with a used phone off ebay for the time being. You won't get locked in to another 2 year agreement with a phone you aren't sure about and will have a spare when you decide to renew to get a deal on the phone of your choice. I have bought a few used verizon cell phones off ebay to avoid getting locked in to new service agreements, just make sure they have a valid ESN number (located behind the battery). With the ESN you can log in to your account online and switch over to that phone for free. It's nice having a beater phone for those days your gonna be in a harsh environment and don't want to have your more expensive phone on you. |

I believe Google wants to standardize as many phones as possible on Android 2.1 (except those older phones whose hardware just won't be able to handle it). |

I am an apple fanboi Having to deal with AT&T made me not get the iphone. My next phone will be based on Android (I am primarly a *nix geek... ).. Once the Nexus comes out on Sprint/VZ I am going to think long and hard about that. A slight problem with HSDPA(AT&T) and EVDO-RevA(VZ,etc..) Is that with evdo you can't be on the phone and the net at the same time. But that isn't really relevant to this conversation, just throwing it out there. |

Is that with evdo you can't be on the phone and the net at the same time I do it all the time. Motodroid. On my Voyager, I couldn't. On my Droid, I can. Droid does. The signal indicator on the Voyager said "EvDo" and on the Droid it says "3G"... maybe the same, maybe not...? (Message edited by pwnzor on April 08, 2010) |
