I just picked up an Arai Quantum II helmet and I was wanting to put a different visor on it. The question is, how if any has the mirror coatings improved from a few years back. It is a toss up between a Dark Smoke or a Silver Mirror. The last I heard was the mirror coating was easy to scratch or even start to come off as in peeling. Anyone have reviews or opinions to offer? Btw, Arai Quantum II helmets are on sale at Cycle Gear. Regular $5oo+... They have them listed at $299. | ||

yes Mirror coating scratch easy and you have to be careful what you clean it with. Smoke is way better and longer lasting. I don't know anything about the Arai's mirror shields if they are different, but ever single mirror shield I have owned lasted maybe 3 months before some kind of damage was done to the coating. | ||

Here is a good one for you I have the AGV S-4 helmet and bought this piece of crap one year and pasted it to the inner shield of the AGV. Rode it through the rain once last spring and you could see where the water ran in streams down the front in between the visor and piece I added to it the pollen dust was included.  I got it off and now the shield is damaged I'm looking for a smoke shield for the AGV S-4 now | ||

Mirror isn't as tough as the smoke although it isn't as bad as some of the other brands. Get a real Arai brand sheild, not a knock off. | ||

I have a mirror on my Arai. It would be close to a year old - still in good order. | ||

Thanks everyone... I picked up the Dark Smoke tonight, it made a world of difference on the ride home directly into the Texas sun. |
