because yesterday a doctor cut a sizeable chunk out of it. I had a small mole that I noticed had a red ring around it a couple of months ago. The red ring was really faint at first, but I noticed it getting darker, so I made an appointment with my dermatologist. I had a basal cell carcinoma removed probably 12 years ago, which was really no big deal. My mom had a melanoma removed this past summer, however, and her doctor said that my sister and I would be at a greater risk of having melanoma ourselves, so we should get ourselves checked out. I did that about six months ago and all checked out fine.

Well, last Wednesday I went in and had the place on my arm biopsied. They called me Friday and said it was malignant melanoma and wanted me to come in ASAP. So, I went in yesterday morning and they took a nice big slice out of my arm and sewed it back together.

The important thing is that it looks like we caught this early and it was still only in my skin. I should be fine. However, if I had not noticed the place or ignored it the story could be quite different.

So, wear your sunscreen and pay attention to your skin. Failing to do so could be deadly.

Good on ya for getting it early. My mother had the same thing done seven years ago. No come-backs yet! I have to watch for it also.

Good on you Dynasport! Heal well.

My dad had some removed off his face a couple of years ago, I went with him, and the doctor kept sending him out to wait with us while analyzing the sample, the doctor kept cutting and cutting and finally got it all after about 4 hours. Then he sent him home with a big hole about 3 inches in his cheek with an appointment for a plastic surgeon in the morning to fill the gap.

Sunscreen?

Last summer the girlfriend and I spent a ton of time perfecting an all over tan, this winter.....I have a vitamin D deficiency! I just don't understand...

I perform at very least weekly checks on her skin.

Yes, I am just bragging.....LOL

Dyna, glad they nipped it in the bud.

Swampy, I was just listening to Dr. Radio on Sirius, and they had a whole episode about Vit D deficiency. Apparently we don't store up enough for over the winter. They recommend at least 2000 I.U. of Vit D per day. Can be D3 or D2 doesn't matter.
