I've been looking for a good pair of boots that could serve double duty as my work and riding boots.

So far, the following has caught my eye:

Any other ideas? Anyone have experience with Wolverine boots? I saw a lot of guys wearing them when I did framing and the boots seemed to last. Plus they're considerably less expensive than a pair of red wings..

btw whatever I find MUST be black and steel toe - for work. They MUST be waterproof for riding, and I'd prefer them to be insulated as well.

Right now I'm wearing these:

but the after only 6 months, the leather is cracking where the boot bends at the toe.

Until American wages go low enough for this equation to to work:

American cost = Chinese cost plus shipping

Our wages will continue drop and Chinese imports will grow.

Sucks. Information is too available now with internet, cheap phone service, etc. Their lifestyle is going up and ours is going down. Sucks.

WESCO, I took a flight from Dirty Jersey to Portland Oregon and back the same day just to get fitted by the man who makes 'em.

As for China...I'm glad I won't be around much longer I would hate to be alive for the official arrival of the USA to the Third World. I see the people whose monthly gubmint check I pay for marching in and out of the Wallyworlds all the time. They have no clue. Putting yourself out of work (if they're fortunate enough to have a job) one "great price" at a time.

I have a pair of Wolverine pull on boots that I bought in 1981.....still wear them. Paid an outrageous price for them($69.00 at the time).........so I took care of them. They have been with me on every major event in all those years.Hard, old and tired, but still very usable.

I've got six years of general use and forty thousand kilometers of riding on a pair of Redwings like the ones on Phillip's post. They are really comfortable, and if treated with care, are waterproof. I liked em so much I bought another, different pair of Redwings; the ones that are a little shorter, and have a zipper up the side. The soles on those ones are a little clunky on sportbike pegs, though.

These are my newer pair, they're almost 9 years old. Just got them resoled at Christmas. My other pair is exactly the same boot, but with steel toes. This pair has "tech toe" polycarbonsomething plastic toes which are supposedly stronger than steel. I don't know about that, but I do know the plastic toe doesn't freeze in the cold like steel does.

little miss kitty num nums like bootlaces.

I passed up the offer up on the employer sponsored free footwear. My workplace provides Chinese steel-toed footwear. They DO reimburse $60 of my cost tho.I REFUSE to wear chinese footwear.REDWING boots/workshoes.And like mentioned previously,They try and try to sell me the Chinese Worx shoes.Even my SNEAKERS are made right HERE in BOSTON.

I LOVE the opportunity to help my fellow American laborer's livelihood.

I have a pair of Tony Lama's USA made (Ostrich) too but they're size 9d.About 20 years old and nearly brand new i inherited them from Pop but they're too small.
