Pretty sporty I'd say. Duluth Police Dept. uses them, and my cop buddy said he's really happy with his. Very nimble, and very fast. |

It's dead straight desert roads isn't it? I'd be taking the Harley with forward controls. |

They are heavier than a sportbike but more comfy. Great power and low down torque. If you can get to some twisty roads, it'll handle them pretty well. |

ive riden an ultra classic out there and they are a pain in the butt at slow speeds. the st seems like a happy medium. there are twisties in the state park. when i rode it last time on the hog, i wish i had something sportier. lots of 70+mph sweepers. |

I own a 2005 ST1300, it is one sweet bike. The riding position is comfortable, the power is great, and it will carry about everything including the kitchen sink without even a grunt. I've ridden mine on the famous HWY191 in eastern Arizona, and pretty much every other road I ride my Buells on. It handles them all with ease. Granted, it IS a 600 lb motorcycle, and you need to keep that in mind, when it comes time to slow it down. Don't get me wrong, it's got good brakes, it just doesn't stop like a Buell! I love mine, it's alot of fun to ride, and does a great job of carrying Deb and I everywhere we need to go. Now if only Buell would make another Sport Touring bike... Correction Bart - 740lbs. I've had mine on a scale. It blocks a lot of wind so expect a hot ride if it's a hot day. I call mine 'Super Singer', it sounds like a sewing machine. For a big heavy bike it handles amazingly well. |

have any of you riden an ultra classic? is it me, or is the seating position harder to balance at slow speeds? like stop and go traffic? and can i assume that the st will be much easier. cause i dont even have to put my feet down on the buell. |

Yeah, front cover story on my magazine. I thought the new touring chassis handled and chucked around really well - for the size of the unit. Pound for pound as good as the Honda, just 30 ponies shorter and that much bling heavier. |

yea, i rode a harley 2 years ago. i found it very difficult to balance at very slow speeds(stop and go, less than 1st gear) |

No such difficulty on the one I tested. Did the first 1000km on the local press bike. The clutch got a bit cantankerous when brand new, and there was some engine heat in traffic, but they were the only gripes I had with the bike. Manners and handling were all very good. Like, really surprised me, and I raved a bit about how good they were. I've also had rental bikes that were just wrong-g-g-g. Or maybe you were just drunk. :-) |

Many police forces use them, & those guys can usually ride the wheels off anything. A friend of a friend in Texas has one, it went & handled pretty well for it's size, we had a great day out riding in the country around Austin & San Antonio. Him on his ST, my mate Nick on a 675 Daytona, & myself on Buellerthanyou's S1. I had no trouble keeping with him but we ran a good pace nonetheless. I was also very grateful for the drinks cooler in one of his panniers. |

i've had an ultra since late 2000 and the 04 that we have now since 05 and even with the wife on back it handles quite well and although it is no buell, i have no problem scraping the floor boards. as far as going slow, you have to be conscious of anything at low speed. |

A Road King isn't a bad bike. I don't think anyone is saying it is. That said, it's much harder to ride a Road King at the level of an ST1300. If you are going to take a leisure tour, either will do just fine. If you will be seeking tighter twisties, the ST1300 would be a better choice. |

I found the ST1300 gave a lot of engine heat much more than my XB9, I thought It was a nice ride. |

I rented on 14 years ago to go to the Isle of Man with my wife. Great bike if a little big to really hustle around the island. Not as numbel as the VFR 750 I had used the prior time I was there. Great and comfortable loaded up with all our gear and speeds up to 100 mph. Very confidence inspiring. It was even good white lining in London traffic. The only issue was that the front tire was on the worn side (not anywhere near shot) so teh front end would wobble, very slowly and a very small amount, back and worth at a steady 10 mph in a straigth line. The bike never deviated from straight but I could feel it through the bars. |

Dave, that was probably partly the road surface. Many London streets are just tarmac over the old cobbles. |

Who would have thought a bunch of BadWeBbers would be singing the praises of Honda? My how the times have changed! Not to beat a dead horse, but we asked for an ST replacement for the S3. It took several years for the Uly with a small fuel tank. By then I had moved on. |

A full faired 1125 platform was in the works. I guess we'll have to wait until the BRP Buell. |

Uly has a small tank? It still can easily go 250 miles on its 4.4 gallons. Yea the ST1300 has a 7.7 gallon tank, but can you really do the entire 330 miles in 1 shot? Sure it is nice if you are going to more remote areas, but a small emergency can is all you need for the Uly if you don't want a 5 gallon aux tank. The 2010 Electra Glide has a 6 gallon tank, and will also get you about 300 miles range. |

I would love to be able to get even 180mi out of my XT. It can't be all weight making the difference. Not sure how you get those numbers Froggy. Not doubting just curious cause I can't even come close |

The Uly is rated for 64mpg highway, its not hard to do if you don't wring it out every chance you get. |

That explains it. It also explains why my tires never lasted longer than 4,000 miles. |

(Who would have thought a bunch of BadWeBbers would be singing the praises of Honda? My how the times have changed!) They burnt our house down,so in the mean time we are having to rent until EB builds a new one. |
