sat on it... weeeee. just another Sportster I gotta dump 4K into to make it a viable option for my garage. Really sick of that business model. What would I do to it ?...... That tank has gotta go. I am not stopping ever 70 miles to gas up. WTF. Forward pegs.... those go to boards Seat.... gone, need something for comfort. Taller shocks 13 rears Now needs tall front fork springs. Driving Lights Backrest, luggage rack.... And while we are at it... a tail dragger ful ful fender from an 84-87 FLSTC A set of color match hard bags Right and left exhaust, And finally a bat wing fairing.... Yep, baby bagger. Cuz lord knows there is no performance compared to the Buell. It might as well be a miniFLH the onlything this bike gets that is 'new' is the fat front tire to the XL line up. everything else is Lego Parts bin. |

Never been too much interested in harleys but was wondering if those bikes come with an outfit to match the look they are going for. Maybe even some temp tats. |

I see the engineers at Harley have lost many nights sleep coming up with a completely new, cutting edge, radical bike design. They should be proud of their accomplishments. DOUCHEBAGS! |

Not bad looking. I would have to change the seat and pegs. not comfortable. Roland Sands has a kit to redo this bike. Really looks good. |

It ain't a water shed model or anything. They'll sell a few, but it isn't going to be their lead into the younger market. They are delusional. |

>>all the comments so far are Pro Buell its almost sad....almost<< Well, I like the bike and that all makes sense to me. Seemed nicely done in fact. Definitely a spot for machines like it in the market. These guys only 'see' themselves riding it. Expert types who appreciate a Buell won't like that bike naturally. A newbie or recreational rider that a Buell would likely terrorize will love it - and good on 'em. I think it looks great. |

Harley should be able to sell without advertising. The real problem...to much greed! The people who do the work get Fu#ked and then you have yuppies at the top that's afraid to get dirty...Most of them havent seen a honest day of work. You have a multi million dollar co. with way overpaid people watching staff. O ya Fu#k the CEO! Harley is a good Co. they just need to drop a lot of dead weight not worker's. IMO which is worth poo! |

I am sad for HD. The sportiest HD they have made in years, the XR1200 doesn't sell. They can Buell. Their hope to bring in "younger" buyers is to style a Sportster to look similar to a bike built in 1948? Here is my theory. Harley can't sell 'sporty' bikes like the XR1200 because they can't commit to try and actually compete on any level with sports bikes so they can't get the guys who actually want a sports bike. I know that I am in the minority here in that I like the XR1200, but I realize it can't compete with similarly priced bikes like the Yamaha FZ1 or the Ducati Monster. But the XR1200 also doesn't appeal to the guys interested in the rest of the Harley lineup for the same reason the V-Rod has not be a big seller. So, HD might as well stick to what it does best, which is build low performance, high bling, premium priced motorcycles to guys who enjoy looking at them more than riding them. Now, I know that statement doesn't apply to all HD riders. I have ridden the daylights out of my Harley and loved it very much. But their bread and butter is the guy who buys a $20,000 bike and adds $10,000 in chrome. And, in spite of how frustrated I am at HD for closing Buell, I do wish them success so they can continue to employ American workers and help our economy improve. I just wish the company was run by someone who actually rides a motorcycle. Rant off. |

^^ well said, basically how i feel. I actually like the new 48, if I was to get a cruiser, that would probably be it. |

Dynasport, you are probably correct in your comment. I don't think this bike is bringing in the young crowd, I think they are off the market there. They just made a trend bobber that is hot out there right now, because chopper style bikes have faded. Cafe racing is getting big, but I don't think you will see HD into that anymore. |

The problems with the XR-1200 are: (a) its a niche bike (b) its a nice $8000 naked standard that sells for $12000 (or whatever). They only needed look further then the Triumph Bonneville to know how the XR1200 would sell. It's a nice bike with a place in the world... just not a very big one. And that would be OK if it was developed to be high in quality, and affordable. That Harley thought they were so much "different" is just one more demonstration of how their ego's cost me as a stock holder a lot of opportunity. |

If they got the xr1200 on the floor for say 8500 it would sell. I have a friend who bought a sportster last year and this season he is board of it like many but he doesn't have 20K to spend on an upgrade so he is gonna buy what? A street trple or an FZ6. These are the new riders and they would have been Buell riders so IMHO Harley will get their just deserts and probably get bought out by a conglomerate |

Really like my '09 Iron 883 I bought a few months back. Was looking at the XR1200 (which sells for $9200-$9500 around here) but couldn't get past the plastic covered gas tank that has issues staying on and I don't care for the three spoke wheels, they just look out of place. I was going to go for the 48 but with it being a new model the prices were way more than they should be. Picked up a used 750 mile '09 Iron for $1500 less than new price that way I can go with some a 2into1 and a 1250 kit for less than a new Iron. I have about 350 miles of ride time on it so far and I like it. When I had my S1 I wasn't riding fast, I was just cruising it and when the Nightsters came out I really wanted one because it was a neat looking bike. I didn't care for the xb series buell with the fuel in frame and such but I was almost forcing myself to go for a CR but didn't because I don't care for the XB frame set-up. I really don't know what everyone hang up is with the sportster and what Harley is doing with the new dark custom stuff. The comments such as "Same old Sportster, different color", well this is what buell has done for the past decade. I looked into the Triumph Thruxton but it just wasn't for me. Here are pics of the iron and I have done the mirror flip, 883R 2 up seat, speedo relocation and wide low bars.
