The ST1300 would appear some way below the Concours 14, FJR1300 and K1300S on my desirable property list. |

I get 240km/150 miles to reserve pretty much every time.
I find this satisfactory - and about average for the bikes I've tested.
Best I've got so far is a Victory Vision - does 400km. |

I'd agree.
Actually, I'd probably substitute the new VFR for the ST1300, but that wasn't really one of the two rental choices.  |

Rate the VFR 1200 as a great sports bike for big blokes.
It has less range than the XB12X though.
We need one of those Fuel tanks like in Easy Rider.
Start with it small anyways - fill it with a hose full of $ notes - and ride off into the desert. Yet never have to push it. |

I never got over 150 miles before the fuel light came on, with my Uly.
And I couldn't pack the bags for two without the bike becoming dangerously light in the front end. |

Actually I wanted to buy the FJR but I figured my wife would prefer the ST. I would prefer better gas mileage than what the C4 gets and the BMW is a bit pricey.
The one thing about the ST is that it is so smooth in the corners that it is a bit disconcerting because there isn't the feedback from the tires that a lighter bikes gives you. I realize that I don't get anywhere near the capabilities but I still wonder every so often.
I absolutely hated my Sportster when I had to think about my next fuel stop, right after filling up. On my S3 I usually went over 200mi. The ST will go 320mi. before turning on the fuel light, with 1.2 gal more. I like to stop without having to think about getting gas each time. |

Personally I much prefer naked bikes, but I'm paid to evaluate all types of machines so I test them with an open mind.
That said - I probably go for the Connie and the Bimmer because they have a 'sickness' factor that compensates for all the dressing up that I don't really like.
Like everyone says - the Honda is a real good bike. I just enjoy flogging a nekkid road king more.
That also has to do with the way the speed limits here are heavily Policed. |

Who would have thought a bunch of BadWeBbers would be singing the praises of Honda?
My how the times have changed!
I don't find it strange at all, I think many Badwebbers are maturing and realizing that although Buell is there first choice but there many other fine rides out there as far giving praises is a not new phenomena it been going for years and I find healthy. |

After 6 years and 84,000+ miles, I've decided to keep my ST1300. Great 2-up bike, great sport tourer, plenty of power, handles good enough to get you into and out of any corner you choose to carve.
No complaints, especially if you are looking for something to rent besides an HD.
Jeremy, anytime you want to ride mine you can, since you'd probably be bored with my 1125rt ;+}
