Yep. That's what the recall notice says.

I'd check to see if your car might be eligible for a good will replacement.

My initial guess was the crank sensor.

They tend to take a dump when they get hot.

Let them sit and cool off and they will fire back up..

Just a nasty cycle.

worked on Ford/Lincoln/Mercury for 15 years...I would think fuel issue over a crank sensor first. Crank sensor should give you a code/check engine light. Most fuel issues will not. Could be a fuel filter, I have seen cars with less than 10k have a totally plugged filter. Fuel pump could also be overheating and getting ready to take a dump. Once it cools down it works fine

I do not know anything about Kia, but like what was said before, you need fuel, fire and air for a motor to run. When it happens, does the car crank but not start, or will it not turn over at all? I just reread you post, no fuel filter over 100K...that is where I would start

Yes, (forgot to mention that) the check engine light is on.
I was able to get a code at Auto Zone. It is P0338. Crankshaft position sensor.

I bought a code reader after the 2nd time my daughter came home from college on the weekend. As she was leaving both times she mentioned "Oh, by the way dad, the check engine light is on".
It has paid for itself for the typical loose gas caps, injector plugging (resolved with fuel additive) and stuck EGR valves. They aren't very expensive compared to the hassle of getting someone else to do it for you.

Its been my experience that the crank sensor will only throw a code about 1/2 the time for the
"getting hot and killing the motor issue"

Sometimes you get a code, sometimes you don't.

This is with german cars, but the sensor technology should be right at the same level.

My Saturn didn't throw a code either.

What would happen with the Vue is it wouldn't start to begin with, wait 10 minutes and it would fire right up until one day it just wouldn't fire. Never threw a code even when completely dead.

Oh and I have had some luck buying them (2) on Ebay at 1/4 of the price.
